exactly I prefer a PC if is for work that support any OS, becuase today we are many program that are better in one or otther OS, that I work for many programs in they OS and I work better, transparent and is great idea.
For the ones that are confused about what Open Source Hardware is: It doesn't only mean open source specs, it means open source CAD/CAM files, specificationsi drivers etc... in another word, free to manifacture for any company: look at openmoko for instace...
First of all: Mac OS X shouldn't be supported for legal reasons.
Secound: FreeBSD, OpenBSD, etc. should be supported.
Third: Open Source doesn't work well for hardware...
4th: Forget about Kubuntu...
5th: Probably it shouldn't come with linux as default.
ATI (AMD) went partially open with their graphics, so free drivers are on their way to full support. Not ready yet, but they will be much better than amd's current half-working binary blobs. Atheros begins to go open now...
Damn, Support this tendencies! If specs for hardware are open, after some times all Linux distributions will work out of the box on such hardware.
Nearly two years ago, another well known manufacturer, (and alas competitor of our blessed host) whose name begins with a "D" started this sort of "brainstorm" among customers and what did happen then ?
More than 80 000 people voted to have the choice of a Linux Laptop. The manufacturer finally agreed and sold lots and lots of computers.

Apple does not sell software and hardware, they sell hardware with proprietary software.
Apple sued a company named Psystar for selling clones. Psystar sued back with an antitrust claim.
I own an iMac but think it is overpriced; will most likely be selling it in efforts to build a more powerful PC. The case with Psystar and Apple will most likely lead to nothing. There must be some middle ground that Apple can play with, maybe removing focus from desktops completely and switching it to entertainment hardware like cinema displays, and home connectivity and consoles.

Why? Easy :) Apple uses BSD for a reason.

GREAT IDEA
Just what I was about to suggest myself.
