DO WANT! I want something light and portable yet has more than enough power to decode HD movies and play some older games when I'm away from my desktop. I'd pay up to $500 for a 10-12" Ion netbook with a dual-core atom, 2GB of RAM, 160GB+ hard drive, and Windows 7.
I have a pretty decent desktop that I use for most tasks like gaming, web surfing, and watching movies as well as a low-end 15.4" laptop that I sometimes use somewhere else on campus for schoolwork. I say sometimes because it's a bit bulky and the battery only lasts ~2 hours. I enjoy watching a movie to kill time during the long drive home from college, but I can't even finish a 2-hour movie.
No. Just because it's got an hdmi port doesn't make it hidef. COD4 was clearly chugging on that demo video, and that had to have been at low detail and - max - 800x600.
If the price of mobile gpus is falling, I'd rather see better video cards in conventional notebooks. I'd gladly pay more for a 12-13" ultraportable with a real processor, a bit more RAM, and a 9400M (or better, space and heat permitting)
i like my PC but that also might be because ive never had a laptop in my life. i do think it would be nice to play a game like command and conquer on a laptop on the toilet.
Waiting for the ion (and windows 7) are the main things holding me back from getting a netbook, which would inevitably be used for gaming. Please make it happen!
I am quite fond of the Nvidia since it seems quiet and small and whatnot. However, if it had to be on a netbook, it would be weird. I wouldn't imagine how playing Crysis or WoW would work on a small screen. I'm probably exaggerating what the netbook's screen is like.
I would buy a Nvidia on its own because I would like to tinker around with it a little. But since I'm being asked if I would buy a netbook with this little bugger and it was under $500, unless I was aware of the battery life and hard drive space in it, I'd decline.
I think it would work, as long as it had a HDMI output or a monitor output so users have the option to use a bigger screen.

I've been wanting to buy a smallish laptop anyways, and the ability to play games would give me another excuse to get it.

I would look into much further since the reason I have my MB now is to play some older games well. 9400m is not a shabby chip!
intel Atom processor... Nvidia Ion GPU
I GET IT! (and I want it)

Yes, do it, and i'll buy two.
