How did I miss this thread? I hit your blog daily! Doh!

Thank you for the pearls of blog wisdom. I started mine in January and have become ADDICTED to it. Your points are all excellent and make good common sense.

Of the blogs I follow daily, they have in common great writing and storytelling. They invite me into the daily joys and trials of their lives and they do it honestly and with humor. That's what I try and do on mine, mimic the things I like about yours and others.

And I despise too many ads and music.

I mentioned my blog to someone the other day and they said, "Oh! You're a blogger!" As if it were a cult. I am wholeheartedly a member!

Ree, I so love 'being there' on your blogs. I enjoy the time I spend there. It feels cozy, I feel at home, I'm hoping to bring that to my own blog.

Thanks so much for sharing your tips! You are awesome, lady!

I LOVE my blog, and I love blogging. It's my journal on a computer, for when I can't stand to handwrite what's going on in our lives, complete with photos!! I just have a hard time making it "cutesy", and learning about computer stuff to make my columns bigger, etc. Blech... But, it's so wonderful for long distance family to read up on us & our daily happenings!

I started blogging in Feb this year and it's all your fault! Now I'm addicted. But I hope I'm leaving behind a lot of family memories for my kids and grandkids.

I look for a clean page design, humor, some pictures, and info.

I"m trying to learn as much as I can from you, Ree. But I'm having so much fun reading your blog sometimes I forget to learn. Learning is a pain anyway.

Totally agree on the "use images" concept, although in our case, we don't use photos: we have started cartooning for each post. Since adding the cartoons, our unique visitors have MORE THAN DOUBLED for each post! It's been astounding.

Granted, Rick is a wonderful illustrator and not everyone will wake up with one of those beside her in the morning.

Next step: increasing the frequency of our posts from once a week to daily. Yikes! May have to quit my day job.

I don't like being assaulted with music and lots of distracting blinking things.
I enjoy blogs that let me have a glimpse of how they are and what makes them click, a good sense of humor and pictures help keep me coming back.
I'm glad for the advice and will try to follow it on my blog at http://ajoyfulchaos.blogspot.com

As demonstrated, I could never write a blog. I would not even be a fan of my own blog even if I were to write one :)
