For a notebook to feel theft-proof, what features would you expect to see?

A alarm....not kidding. no one is going to take your pc if you have a alarm on it...make the alarm keep going on and on till the battery dies and can only be shut off by the owner.

The only way is to annoy the thief. The owner of the computer has to scan their eye or finger print every 6hrs or the computer would call the owners phone and give a gps location and also make a loud alarm noise.

If there is an integrated webcam tehn a built it recording feature which sends everything to Asus but, due to privacy reasons, wont be accessible by them until the laptop is reported stolen

I would like a lock mode that uses an accelerometer. If you push the button and the laptop is rocked shaken or moved, it would start flashing and beeping loudly. If there is a built in webcam, this could be activated to catch the theft in the act, and bring them to justice if the laptop is recovered.

A keningston security slot with an included cable would also be nice.

A free copy of computer lojack would also be nice.

A sensor detecting that the device has been moved significantly, f ex more than 1 or 2 metres from the locked position, which triggers an alarm similar to a car alarm and verification of some sort to turn it off. And if the alarm trips, it should record the location and time and upload it somewhere, at least if they are not able to disable the alarm in time. This way, you have a semi non-invasive way to track stolen devices and preventing people stealing it without people nearby noticing.

There are a couple features that i can think of, a gps device which can track the location of your notebook, this would be useful even in cases where you've misplaced your notebook. another idea would be an alarm that can be set, this would be very useful feature especially when working in the library and you need to get a book on another floor, or another idea would be some sort of key which needs to be put into the laptop for it to power on, the key would be always in the laptop so it functions normal with it, but when removed it completely locks the computer and the only method to turn it back on is with the key.

a remote recovery device, like a little button separate from fromt he laptop. if it gets stolen, you just press the recall button, and poof! completely shut down, and will only turn on when you press the on button-also on this little button thingy. theft proof!

well i like i'd like netboks to get more secure in a number of ways. first if it's stolen i'd like some sort of software with good encryption capability to be put on the recovery partitions of the netbooks so the stolen netbook cannot be restore to factory settings and be usable and i will also like more hardware based encryption or strong software based boot encryption to be put on netbooks so they can't login or boot into the os because if even if the windows login has a password it can easily be hacked with software like conboot and i will also like to see hardware based file encryption built in to the netbooks because if u use software based encryption it either can either he decrytped or it was slow down system performance thats they i like hardware based encrytion put into netbooks inorder to process the encrytion instead of the cpu.
