Well now you need virus protection to stop the hackers getting in and the gaps are in file sharing software because they might have the correct file but they have a virus in them aswell.
kids these days are very good with technology. i know b/c i am one of them.and what i knowtest from my friends is that there very galibal when it comes to stuff on the internet. for ex. my friend was online and he got a pop up that said "you have a vires download this program to clean it" so when he did he got a vires from that.
and there is not a lot off ways took keep kids from doing this exempt teaching them. if u lock it kids can buy pass it. for ex. we have Myspace blocked on our school computer and all we do it go in to cmd and re rout it then they found out we do that so they tried blocking cmd and we still go in to it throw notepad.
the internet is a world that is more dangerous than our own... we can get robbed easely, can have our PC infected, etc... i belive internet would be more pleasant to use if it wasn't for the agressive ADS,Viruses and Spyware!
I think internet browsers have the most gaps...also in downloading if these two area's could be fixed I think there'd be alot less hackers...there'd still be some but. Oh well. can't make a rock turn into water. but you can sure put it in water.
TO PROTECT YOUR NOTEBOOK AGAINST HACKERS YOU NEED A GOOD ANTI VIRUS PROGRAM SUCH AS FIREWALL AND SUCH.
The only true way to stop hackers is to unplug your internet. But there are a few things that I like to do.
1. Deactivate windows services that contain security holes.
2. Don't download anything offering "free" virus scans and/or spyware scans.
3. Anonymize yourself. (ip maskers/blockers, proxies... ect)
4. Real antispyware/antivirus software. (Avast, spybot)
Much more can be done if you are really at risk of hackers. But the most protection you can have is your own common sense.
well i have a complicated username and password combination, but with a simple hacking tool, this can be flawed. perhaps something along the lines of voice recognition, or fingerprint reader next to the keyboard. not too easy to fake a fingerprint :)
well since a netbook is mainly a portable internet device. people take it around everywhere and a lot of people access a lot of open wireless networks but some aren't really safe so i wish to see a sort certification or checkering software or even hardrive builtin to netbooks with the capability to check if the network can be trusted or not and also since netbboks aren't really powerfull systems u can't run security software as smooth as in normal notebook computers or desktops so i would also like see more development of software for netbooks.
I have zero viruses all thanks to vistas firewall.
A decent firewall on your computer, the one in Windows 7 for example is good. Don't go overboard, and annoy yourself with some dumb shareware firewall.
Also, have a good router firewall, with all the firmware updated, and preferably, Tomato installed if your router supports it. Have your router with all the security features.
Now, thats protection from hackers, now protecting you from yourself.
Using OpenDNS has a pretty good Malware/Spyware blocking, and will leave you pretty secure from getting yourself infected.
Have an anti-virus installed, a good free one is Avira AntiVir Personal Edition. It's free, lightweight, and has great detection and removal. It has good features, and is updated regularly. Though Antivir is great, some people want to waste their money on a paid Anti Virus. If so, NOD32 Smart Security is a great option. Avoid Norton or McAfee.
Running Linux is great, but most users won't, so I won't talk about it.
