What are some examples of when you would use anti-theft or child-proof features?

2 locks one an each side where you have to push them in at the same time to unlock it.

finger scanner so only you can use it.

maybe some sort of timer and a really good password

the keys would have to be on really tight so that kids cant take keys b/c thats my biggest problem my little sis goes in my room and pulls the keys off my laptop and its a real big night mare when i get home ///////also ///// for theft we should all have a server online where our data gets backed-up and when your laptop gets stolen you should be able to remotely erase all your data from it,lock it so they cant reload any os on to it and track it....

Have a built in GPS to track the computer when the owner reports it stolen. then when it connects to the internet if it was reported stolen you can disable the computer completely and the computer becomes a paper weight.

YOU WOULD USE IT WHEN SOMEONE IS HACKING YOUR NOTEBOOK OR OTHER TYPE OF COMPUTER.

The new feature that came with HP and Windows 7 seems great ! (the one that can recognize the face of the owner in order to let him access the computer). The fingerprint also seems like a nice solution.
For an anti-theft feature, i propose a feature where you can disable the computer when lost. Lets say you keep the serial number of the computer and ask the company to lock the computer the next time it goes on the internet (like apple wanted to introduce for the iPhone).

A child will lose a computer, period. If it is for children, it should have an EXTERNAL LCD screen that upon going two days without a log-in, says "LOST BY (name) CALL (#)" i.e. "LOST BY JIMMY WILSON - CALL (555) 123-4567" Teachers must be trained to confiscate computers with that message and call the number. Maybe it can even change the color of its clamshell, i.e. Yellow=lost or stolen.

I vary Much Agree with ninja0895:

What Well if someone who steals your computer is smart with computer, they can get around any software sided. If the BIOS is password protected, they can just reset the CMOS, if you have tons of software installed to prevent from theft, they can just reinstall Windows. And if you have Lojack, they can take out the battery, reset the CMOS, and clean the hard drive.

If the thief is smart, nothing you do will stop them.

There is always a backdoor or a Wraparound to Access These Impotent files.

I also Like what Dawson said!

"A Micro Fingerprint sensor"
That would be a good add on feature even to log in Scene no-one has the same fingerprint!
