What are your thoughts around dual panel notebooks that also feature touch screens?

.
multiple screens would come in handy, especially if one was a touch screen, you could use on screen like a notebook (the one with paper), and you could use the other for regular computing.
I would find the touch screens very useful, although hey would be harder to keep track of, as in you could get pressure cracks and it might get too expensive, but it sounds cool.
with more hardware comes more responsibility and a teckie to troubleshoot it if it brakes, in fact just smash your pc if it doesent work. dual screens double the fun to smash. just saying
i dont think it would be good on a note book because it would make the note book to chunky and would be expensive
I do not think this is going to be useful much. The touch screen would cause a very smudged screen with fingerprints all over it. With 2 screens you are having twice the problem.
I do not think that a duel screen laptop with touch screen would be useful, and would also cost ALOT of money.
ah.. touch screens + dual panel...this is my dream with features that are endless.
I eagerly await the advent of a dual panel notebook. The case of the notebook would provide an outer protective shell when closed, and when open the two surfaces could transform to any application you could imagine.
As technology evolves, it could eventually be possible to have a single seamless surface that, when unfolded, allows the mixture of a full-screen display with overlays of virtual keyboard and other tactile input methods that would appear on demand.
It would also be one step closer toward reducing or even eliminating the need for mechanical parts. With advances in small-format chip-based storage technology we no longer rely on magnetic disks and I can see the future of digital disk technology growing near it's end, so those devices can easily be eliminated. With this type of notebook, either panel could function as a customizable keyboard that would allow for keys in any size, language or configuration, and could be enhanced with the addition of sound and even haptic feedback. With advances in technology, one could use the screen as a fingerprint or palm scanner for security, or even a document scanner.
It could incorporate accelerometer technology to sense movement and cause the screens to shift between landscape and portrait modes to match the orientation of the device.
A dual touch-panel device really would open up a lot of possibilities for breaking through the constraints of the current hardware.
i think that its a great idea if its for people who need to show multiple items at one for a business meeting
On the top of my head, I want to have one. Those two panels would definitely be a fun way of reading books, esp if there would be a program that reacts to page flicking gestures. I even see myself working on an artwork in one panel while looking for inspiration on the other. I could even directly compare two documents at the same time even if they are from 2 different formats with ease. I could even take several notes with lots of ease, taking less time to organize them afterwards. If there is gonna be a way for me to have multiple panels similar to a mac, that would be heaven. The best part would be having the functionality of a big screen notebook in half the size. If I can afford it, I see no reason why I wouldn't buy one.
I think this kind of devices are the future!
A double multitouch display notebook can be really usefull, it can simulate my Agenda, My books ecc...
Also the ability to have a onscreen keyboard layout that can be Application dependent can be a great advantage in some applications!
I have seen the Asus concept presented at CeBit in march 2009 and it looks fine, I hope a final product can be presented as soon as possible.
