The Best Gaming Notebook Money Can't Buy
Posted by marco chiappetta in | Jun. 01, 2009 9:00 PM
I'm a bit of a Left 4 Dead addict. I have been a PC gamer for close to 27 years now, if you count those myriad hours spent banging away on my first Commodore 64, and I've come to the decision that Lef...

A fold-out or slide-out keyboard is one possible solution and separating the keyboard from the rest of the laptop is also viable. What about combining the two: a wireless keyboard with a laptop screen base and processor (like the way you would arrange things on a normal desktop except that it's portable) and having the keys fan out on hinges to conform to the exact size of the user's hand and maximize the position of comfort? I've always had this notion that gamers may be willing to sacrifice carrying a little bit more weight and peripherals just to get the same desktop gaming experience while on the road...?
Thanks! They're all features that would be possible to implement, would definitely add value (especially to gamers), and could create interesting marketing opportunities for the notebook manufacturers.
BOOMER!
Ha! I love that game. It's the best. Agreed on the slide-out keyboard too. THAT would rock.
I would have to agree with Dev, a removable keyboard would be nice for a desktop environment. However, my biggest gripe with laptops is the heat issue. I would imagine that it is even more of an issue with a gaming notebook and I think cooling solutions should be rethought out and pssibly rerouted from the bottom of the notebook. I know that when I use my notebook on my legs, at times I block the intake and had I been gaming and the computer didn't get air, I would imagine that it would shutdown.
The amount of circuitry required for a key board is minimal and the same is true for the power it draws. I wold like to see a laptop where the key board is separable from the laptop i.e. it slides out from the side of the laptop. This making the laptop the base charger for a wireless keyboard.
Coupled with a swivel screen and a wireless mouse and you have a gaming laptop that could be deployed or used as a normal laptop.
