Tiger Woods is back on the cover of PGA Tour 2K23

After a two-year absence, PGA Tour is back, and we will also see the much-anticipated return of Tiger Woods. 

2K confirmed the PGA Tour 2K23 Deluxe Edition and PGA Tour 2K23 Tiger Woods Edition arrive on October 11th, with the Standard Edition of the game following on October 14th, 2022.

The eye of the Tiger

Tiger Woods will be playable in PGA TOUR 2K23, as well as being the official cover star. As you can see above, there will be two covers, one will most likely be the Standard Edition, the other is probably going to be some kind of Special Edition. Hopefully more will follow soon. 

2K have also confirmed we will get our first glimpses of gameplay on the 22nd of August, the same week as Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. Nothing is known yet if they will have much of a presence at the convention, but it would be great if we could see even more then. 

PGA 2K23 marks the first time Tiger Woods will appear on the front cover since 2013. 

PGA Tour 2K23 release date

PGA TOUR 2K23 Deluxe Edition and PGA TOUR 2K23 Tiger Woods Edition are scheduled for worldwide release on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, followed by PGA TOUR 2K23 Standard Edition on Friday, October 14, 2022.

PGA Tour 2K23 will be available on the following platforms:

PGA Tour 2K23 pre-order bonuses, & Editions

PGA TOUR 2K23 is available to pre order in multiple editions, each with unique cover art depicting painted portraits of Tiger Woods:

PGA TOUR 2K23 Standard Edition:

• Physical and digital versions for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 consoles, includes the base game;
• For PC, includes the base game and the Golden Club Pack, which includes a Golden Putter, Golden Driver, and four Uncommon consumable golf ball sleeves;

PGA Tour 2K23 New Features

After the new trailer dropped on the 24th of August we now know more about PGA Tour 2K23 than we have before. Coming to PGA Tour 2K23 is the 3-Click swing – a new feature for PGA Tour 2K23.

In order to perform the 3-Click swing you will need to hold and release the A/X button – depending on your platform – for power, and tap it twice to line up your swing path and club face angle.

The extended trailer also confirmed something we have all hoped for – the choice to play as pros. Now in PGA Tour 2K23 you can play as a professional golfer of your choice, even including cover star Tiger Woods.

What course will be in PGA Tour 2K23?

The all-new PGA game will include 20 licensed courses at release.

New courses for fans to enjoy include:

• Wilmington Country Club
• The Renaissance Club
• St. George’s Golf and Country Club

However, if you do want even more variations there is a Course Designer too. Now you will be able to create you own 18 holes with any features you want. If this feature works and is in-depth then the possibilities are going to be endless.

Players can step into the tee box as one of the pros in Exhibition, multiplayer, and Divot Derby play, or go head-to-head with them in a battle to climb the leaderboard and claim the FedExCup in PGA TOUR MyCAREER mode.

In addition to the pros, the broadcast-style presentation and commentary team of Rich Beem and Luke Elvy also return, with the addition of English golf pro and broadcaster Henni Koyack.

The last PGA Tour was more popular with critics than it was with users, so there is certainly room to improve going into PGA Tour 2K23. PGA Tour 2K21 received a 76 on Metacritic, but its user score was only 6.4. 

Will PGA Tour 2K23 have crossplay?

2K have confirmed there will be no crossplay stating “Multiplayer modes can only be played with the same console or across generations within the same console family (Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S; PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5).”
