NOTEBOOK PC : IDEA
Universal notebook
Posted in notebook | October 31, 2008 9amMy idea is not a choice of best components, but rather matter of integration and comfort.
I need a universal notebook (1) for working in office and travel. When in home, I prefer (work, games, videos) connecting my notebook to comfortable keyboard, mouse, big widescreen (24+"), and home networks (2). I would prefer all this peripherals and power supply connected to my notebook with single universal cable.
What components I would consider today?
T8400, 4GB+ RAM, 160GB+ SSD, wide connectivity (HSDPA, WLAN, LAN, BT, IrDA), TV tuner (pilot and TV output), medium graphics (max. 30W power), slim combo drive, A4-size screen (12-14") and light case (1kg).
If I demand more power, I will buy performance PC, but it would be nice if I could easily upgrade my notebook mobo+cpu or graphics in future.
I opt for fast Windows hibernation.
Travel option - multitouch screen instead of traditional screen+keyboard.
In home, I need server (3) with switching capabilities, storage (family photos, favorite music, videos), as well as all-in-one printer (printer, scanner, copier). When I am in office, my wife uses another laptop and needs fast access to all our multimedia on home server.
I will not take my notebook always with me. But my phone is handy. I can use it temporarily for internet or noting, but there is one thing missing: the fast and instant connection with notebook (microUSB 3.0?). It would allow storing my files as on pendrive. Currently, such connections are slow or require installing drivers, etc.
