Beyond Touch: The Power Of Gestures
    Posted in netbook | March 5, 2009 6pm

A mouse and keyboard is the staple of virtually any PC. After years in the background, touchscreens are poised to gain mainstream acceptance, but. . . what about when touch (mouse, screen, or otherwise) is less than ideal?

This is a tablet where, once you flip open the translucent cover to use as a stand, you simply gesture to accomplish tasks normally handled by a mouse. Using Zcam(TM) technology ( http://www.3dvsystems.com/tec hnology/product.html ) or something similar, you could easily control the PC merely by holding up your hand in a recognized pattern within the sensing area and then gesturing. Flip pages in the air to peruse your music and video collection, twist a virtual knob for volume, and zoom images with ease.

You may be working with raw meat, but scrolling further down in the recipe is a breeze--no touching necessary. You may be, ahem, in the restroom, but you won't contaminate any keyboard, mouse, or screen while you finish reading a news article. For those who lose their TV remote frequently, the included tuner can be used without any remote necessary. And imagine the possibilities for gaming. Boxing anyone?

Its brothers and sisters would synchronize and work as a single unit. Are you putting the finishing touches on dinner? Choose a movie and send it to the Gesture PC in the living room to watch while you eat. Perhaps after the meal you need to, ahem, use the restroom, send the movie there and return it to the living room once ready.

The Gesture PC becomes the natural compliment to your current PC, your home theater, and enhances your PC experience.
