NETBOOK PC : DREAM
Asus mini-12
Posted in netbook | February 18, 2009 10pmThis is going to be a better version of the Dell Mini-12. It is a netbook but with a 12 inch screen to allow for a larger keyboard, trackpad and of course a larger viewing area. It is small enough to be ultra portable but large enough to use for extended periods. It will feature the next generation of netbook processors (dual core) and an efficient but moderately capable integrated GPU. THIS IS NOT A "GAMING NETBOOK" as some have proposed. Just a moderately capable netbook that can deliver a faster everyday experience with a little portability sacrafice. (Asus an expert at producing netbooks that can run for hours). It should be available with a variety of low cost hard drives including 64GB SSD or 160GB SATA. It should also be made of environmentally friendly materials and be able to run a variety of operating systems including Express Gate, featured on several Asus products(internet access in 8 seconds). I'm not looking for any expensive features, just a well balanced capable netbook. If I had to choose from any processor on the market right now I would have to go with the Via Nano. I personally think there is a huge market for a netbook like this, as there is a huge gap between 14 + inch mainstream notebooks and 9-10 inch netbooks (not including ultraportables which are outrageously expensive). RAM should be 1-2 GB DDR3 (plus 2GB upgradeable) for moderate multi-tasking.

Marketing Question
Posted in notebook | February 1, 2009 2pmWhenever you go to buy a notebook you look for key features: processor, memory, hard drive, graphics card etc. what about the motherboard? Doesn't this have an impact on perfromance? I'd bet that 90% of computer buyers don't know what type of motherboard is in their computer. I'd like to see manufactures and retailers tell consumers a little more about the computers they are buying, besides that basic stuff.

Green Travler
Posted in notebook | January 30, 2009 10pmThis laptop is designed to be a green/travel notebook for students. It will feature a 12 inch an OLED (organic light emiting diode) screen and a full size keyboard (for extended typing). It will also be a convertable tablet and it will feature a portable solar panel, low voltage dual core processor, solid state drive (low capactiy to keep the price down - I only use about 30 GB on my current laptop - including word documents, some powerpoint and some music), and be made from recycable materials. It will be able to run any operating system.
