GAMER PC : IDEA
AmbiLED
Posted in gamer | November 1, 2008 3pmPhilips Ambilight is a technology that provides not only neat eye-candy, but also reduces eye strain by leveling the environmental lighting projecting lights to the wall behind the screen colored to match the borders of the image. Translating that technology to the PC would be a huge ergonomic relief for long gaming sessions (not counting the neat eye-candy), but it requires both hardware and software to work well. Video drivers could provide the device with readings for average left, top, bottom and right color thru a USB connection and the user would place the device behind his monitor for the desired effect (and bragging rights)

NETBOOK PC : IDEA
MyPod
Posted in netbook | November 1, 2008 2pmA small touchscreen tablet with USB ports (supporting both host and device modes) and video out (composite plus stereo audio, at least), wireless capable (3G + wifi) and running a lightweight OS with web, e-mail and basic office productivity software on-board. Storage in the 4-32 gigabyte range, like a netbook. The idea being it be subsidized by phone operators so people can have access to a PC-like environment from anywhere a TV set is available and at least minimum access from the road, sort of like with the iPhone.

Pyrrha
Posted in netbook | October 30, 2008 12amPyrrha would be a portable gaming device married to an e-book reader, spawning a netbook. To be held in both hands, with twin sets of thumb buttons and shoulder and back buttons for index and middle fingers, it's ergonomics are friendly to both left- and right-handed users and familiar in size and weight to a hardcover book. Wireless connection would provide net access, e-book downloads and networked gaming and further input / usability could be provided by a finger-friendly touchscreen.
