Looking for battery life that keeps up with real life
Posted in Netbook PC | November 10, 2008 2pmEarlier Jean and I shared all the things we carry in our purses. Well, one thing that we don't want to carry around is a power adapter. If we're running around at events or out finding cool stuff, chances are we won't have convenient ways to plug in. And chances are we'll be out for more than three or four hours. Since I'm walking around with it so much, what about kinetic charging? With every swing of my handbag I could be adding to battery life. What about solar charging? I wouldn't mind sitting in the sun every once in a while. If I did have to carry a charger with me, I'd want it to be universal. Or even better, what about a wireless charging pad that worked for all my devices? I don't want to be chained by a cordI want to be able to customize power allocation for different occasions and check off which features are important to me (I will always need to go online), which ones I don't care about (I don't always need sound) and which ones I should be prompted about (I don't always need a bright screen). On mostly standard settings, I'd be looking for a minimum of eight hours of life. But if I could have anything I wanted, I'd be looking for more like 18 hours. Ideally, I could go all day and night without lugging around a cord. And while I am talking about this technological utopia where power adapters are irrelevant and I never have to go without Wi-Fi or maximum processing power, I also don't want to give up the tinyness. That's right, I still need this to fit in my handbag.
