    NOTEBOOK PC : DREAM

    new idea?
    Posted in notebook | November 2, 2008 1pm

Why not have a durable, scratch proof and glare resistant touch screen lcd, with a keyboard that folds out? You can use it on the go with the touch screen, or pull out the keyboard to type up a document. You can browse all your files and do all the basic needs with the touchscreen (multitouch of course) without needing to open it up or turn it on. What's even better is u can always see the screen so u dont have to open it up to use it for 10 seconds.

It will be reasonably powerful, light weight, durable, possibly water proof and shock proof, with all the functionality of standard notebook pc. I could comment more on what it should have hardware wise, but the main idea is the touchscreen lcd that is always viewable, and unlike a palm pc or something that relies on the touch screen alone, it has a protected keyboard (and one of those crappy mouse substitutes all laptops have) for you if you need to do any serious computing which is heaps easier on a keyboard then an onscreen keyboard (they suck i know).

    NOTEBOOK PC : IDEA

TC (Terrific computer LOL... for naming purposes only)
    Posted in notebook | November 2, 2008 12pm

A small portable flash drive (64gb or more), plug it into any base station anywhere in the world and load your own OS with your files ready to use, near instant OS load. Never need to remote link to your pc again!!!

Dear reader, now that I have your attention I will start describing with detail. I would like you to leave every thought possible about my idea, because it is either revolutionary or just ridiculous. Read this with an open mind and don't think about only your needs.

First I will describe the nitty gritty.
The concept is a small flash drive with an lcd on it, (could be a mobile phone, mp3 player, watch, you name it) but what is in it is at least 64gb of flash memory (still relatively new but it is already out there, in a few years im sure they will reach 1TB and further), a small and very low power consuming processor to play music, run a Phone or anything, and a recharable battery. But that's not new, what is new is a FULL operating system (not any particular OS that is out now, but let's say windows vista is installed on it for an example). Now the reason this TC (Terrific Computer (phone, mp3 etc.)) has vista installed on it is because you can plug it in to any desktop computer (I am going to call it a Desktop Access Point (DAP) because it is different from a desktop computer), anywhere in the world and when you boot up the computer your own operating system with all the files that you decide to keep on your TC will be there ready for you to use and access instantly without installing anything or changing settings etc.

Currently there would be heaps of issues with this idea, such as security, availability of the DAP's, price and a few other things. BUT this is only half my idea, the next half involves a standard DAP to be Researched and Developed, I'm thinking of an extremely powerful and efficient system (for example quad core, 8gb ram, GTX 280, multiple hdd's, all that jazz, most probably a better system as new technology is released before this is (is not, lol) created) DAP was developed and then mass produced (just a standard Desktop computer, possibly with its own hdd but without an operating system installed) this would cut down the cost tremendously making it not only affordable, but very effective, efficient, durable, reproduceable, reliable etc.

Alright, say you have your own DAP at home and a spare one for friends, your DAP would have a hdd with all your files including some of the larger files that you would be reluctant to put on ur TC; such as movies, music, games (even though a user would keep his favourite movies, music and games on his TC anyway) but it is also versatile, allowing anyone else with a TC to plug in and directly use their own personal files whilst also being able to access the files on the DAP but the files can be hidden, protected, passworded if you don't want those files accessed.

Let's try put this more in perspective, not only for you my valued reader but also for myself. There would be DAP's in hotels, cafes, possibly parks, shopping centers, at home of course, airports. DAP's could be everywhere and anywhere really, some companies would charge a usage fee of their public DAP's, hotels would provide them free in lobbys and rooms (they could even charge if they were tightasses), every office would have DAP's (people may even carry two TC's around, 1 for work and a personal one). Gamer's would be able to take their TC and plug it into any DAP (because they are the same everywhere in terms of processing power) and play what they wanted at the highest level of detail exactly how they would be playing it at home (keyboard and mouse may be a bit different, but who know's, if the TC was ever invented we may not even be using a keyboard and mouse and have something far more conventional (is it possible?)).

The reason I said a TC would not rule out laptops is because the DAP is not portable and one may not be available EVERYWHERE you go, so for busy people who use their laptop a lot and on the move a TC may not be best suited to your need's, but u could have a portable DAP with your TC in it?

People will also be saying "every DAP would be the same wouldn't people want variation in their DAP? The answer is every DAP should have exactly the same computing power (excluding hdd space, amount of dvd burners bla bla) so that it will run your TC exactly the same anywhere in the world. The variation is in the TC where you could have it as anything i mentioned above or anything you can think of that is portable and electronic, you have your OWN files and your own personalised OS, which will not be the same as any1 else's TC.

Well I hope u see the big picture (ASUS AND INTEL and RICH DEVELOPERS), and I hope I have explained myself well enough to be understood properly. If you cannot see the massive benefits that this system would have for the whole world and you are silently criticising everyword of mine in your head, do NOT leave comments that are just negative. If you see a flaw or flaws don't just point them out, think of a way of redesigning the TC to be flawless.

Thank you to anyone who reads, I may just be rambling on, but if by chance this sparks some sort of crazy idea in your head to go out and actually invent this, pay a little credit to me,
