The Text-Book
Posted in netbook | January 6, 2010 11pmComputers can be very effective tools in learning. My school has a laptop program, but what if there was a laptop designed just for school?
The text-book is just that. Its interface is coordinated with your schedule and each class has its own programmed curriculum. Multimedia tools such as internet searches, podcasts, and video make lessons interactive and interesting. Study tools and assignment calendars help you organize and prepare yourself. Internet integration with peers and instructors allows for collaboration, videochat calls for help or group work, and easy document sharing. It also has accompanying dictionary, thesaurus, calculator, and encyclopedia tools for all programs.
The text-book has a small SSD, an efficient processor, and a large battery capable of staying charged all day. -

Wrist Computer
Posted in netbook | January 6, 2010 10pmStats: 2 GB RAM, 60 GB SSD, Atom Processor
The Wrist Computer is for those who want a good computer but need the portability that only smart phones and net books can possess. This small touch-screen computer has an arm strap that contains solar panels and thin batteries for long-lasting battery. The camera can also use ambient light to determine the necessary brightness setting to see the screen. This camera is also one of several ID features. It can identify the user and open their profile by seeing them or reading their fingerprints. The handwriting reader replaces a keyboard and can identify the writer and can even analyze it for traits. The computer recognizes voice patterns and responds to vocal commands. Because its small size doesn't allow for ports, CD/DVD drivers, or large speakers, it can be hooked up to the dock, which can be plugged in as a charger station or carried around for extended battery life. It also has a CD drive and USB and Firewire ports. -

Access II Touchtop
Posted in notebook | September 7, 2009 10amThe access laptop was a great idea, but nonetheless had shortcomings. The Access II Touchtop is the next generation of Accessability.
-Specs-
128GB SSD
4GB RAM
2.53GHZ Core 2 Duo Processor
512MB Video Card
Large battery
-Touchscreen: The Access II's flagship feature is its depression touchscreen. It seperately recognizes touches and pushes, which are monitered by depressions in the screen when it is pressed like a button, so it can be used as a mouse to navigate without selection. The touchscreen replaces the trackpad and keyboard. It can show touch versions of those, or bring up other control schemes, like a full screen trackpad or game controller-like scheme for games or an altered keyboard. This low-resolution and low-brightness screen has control capability, while the top screen is perfect for movies and game displays. Both screens can be controlled (in terms of brightness and when they are on) seperately.
-Focus speakers: Like its predecessor, it featues focusing speakers. Unlike the original, however, ther do now swivel and the functionality is built inside. These built-in speakers can modify the direction of projection for optimal usage. Personal mode allows you to hear the sound but for it to be relatively quiet to others nearby. The sound can also be projected outward for groups.
-Dual Cameras: The Access II features two cameras- the typical webcam and one on the external shell. Both have full capability and mics, and can be switched between during movie filming, video chats, and picture taking. The external camera even has simple controls on the outside for when the computer is closed.
-Battery: The large battery for this laptop is fitted to its casing to make the most of its size. The screen options, SSD, and modest CPU improve battery life.
-OS: The touchtop has its own OS built in for ease of use, but can use installed OS's to run programs and functions. -

Access Laptop
Posted in notebook | May 5, 2009 2pmThis PC is a bunch of ideas I had recently. These could definitely be used separately. And my drawing is terrible....
The Access Laptop is designed for efficiency on all fronts. It provides gaming, web, and document support. It also provides prime multimedia access and is perfect for video chats.
Components- A quad core processor, a SSD, and average-high video and memory (I don't know much about memory forms so whatever type like stick, duo stick, is best would be used)
The SSD and efficient processor, as well as the somewhat small 15.4" screen and 9-cell ion battery, provide a power conservative approach. The SSD and quad core also make it speedy at most applications, like games, documents, and videos.
Shell- a simple shell allows for easy component change: if you want to change the HD, just remove the cover, take out the SSD, it and add another in.
Focus speakers- these built-in speakers came from an idea i saw on TV- a speaker that magnifies sound at its target but diminishes it to the sides. This means you can have a relatively personal experience w/out headphones when they face towards you. They can also rotate to straight, outward, left, and right sound projections.
Dual cameras- A camera facing at the user and one facing outwards allows you to show things besides yourself in video chats and take pictures or videos more easily. A switch near the cameras changes which mic. and camera are working and a button allows videos and pics to be taken with the outer camera even when the laptop is closed.
Ports- An firewire port, eight usb ports and usb-to-other cords (organized in the case), used to make other connections.
Dual Drive- A compact double tiered-disk drive (one on top of another) allows two DVDs, CDs, or game disks to be stored in the computer.
Keyboard- Removable like components and made out of the squishy material that is currently under most normal keys for accurate (no more hitting 2 keys at one) and comfortable typing on the Access Laptop.
Security- A fingerprint or eye scanner would be built into the camera's functions.
