Dream PC Description

A standard sized notebook PC with a difference!

When you lift the lid on this laptop it seems like any other reasonably-spec'd PC, with all the usual Windows/Linux applications and features. However, you notice there is no mousepad. Along the side of the notebook there is a small door labelled "garage" which flips open to reveal a small but perfectly formed rodent, complete with optical tracking and multiple mouse buttons. This slimline mouse comes in wired or wireless flavours, the latter being charged whilst the mouse is parked in the garage.

But that's not the main feature! The lid, although still acceptably thin at 30mm, contains a latch which when pushed, springs open 2 additional screens !

These extra screens are hinged at one edge, and swivel outwards to reveal a total desktop resolution of 3840 x 1080. Each screen is only 10mm thick and the outer two contain small speakers to maximise the spacial positioning for the virtual surround audio.

The extra screen space can be used to house separate applications, or to spread one application, the mouse-pointer automatically jumping from screen to screen as it reaches the edge of one display. Alternatively, one screen could be used for a web browser, the other for an irc chat client and email package, whilst you are watching 1280 x 1080 HD video on the third.

If used for gaming, the screens can be used to individually display statistics, action, and mission/quest waypoints or be combined to provide a singular panoramic viewpoint for the ultimate in mobile gaming experiences.

Screens power up automatically when opened, or when closed the display reverts back to the original single panel.

nikokapo - Yeah I realise that but I'm trying to be realistic. I thought 10mm for each screen which would have to include a hinge system is technologically more possible than something that was say, 10mm in total.

u can add an extra screen to it to click and drag, and the hardrive is in the actual monitor, so there is no actual second part...

I'd use the three displays as i develop code. It would need an eSata port too so you can plug in a very fast hard drive 15000 RPM when you get to work or need to do a demo.

This would be pretty hard to use say, on a bus. But I can see it being useful for people who pretty much use their laptop as mobile desktop. I don't truly see the need for 3 displays, but I guess it looks better then 2.
