5MX 2008
Dream PC Description
Essentially, an updated version of the venerable Psion 5MX. A similar size and format for the casing, but with colour touch-screen, bluetooth, wi-fi and USB ports. The focus is on small size, portability and functionality. To keep the size down connection ports would be limited to one USB port, but perhaps with the option to connect a monitor, speakers etc via a break-out box.

Why has nobody copied those great Psion's they were the bomb! Such a great keyboard in a very small package. If a new Psion had MS Windows I would be so happy!
I loved those Psions! It would be great to see a modern Windows version for sale.
That is the perfect shape for me!
This is the most practical design I have seen that is definately missing in the market place and also something that can be immediately transformed into a a real product right now! Asus, all you have to do is take the exisiting technology and create it. I think this would be the perfect mobile road warrior's computer.
An 10" screen is too large for me. I liked the Psion Revo which is similar to the 5mx. I would rather have a slim small pocketable Psion. I would like standard CF and a SD slot and a nice color screen.
Oh, god yes. Let me even say a successor to the Psion series 7. Touchscreen 10" monitor, 8 hour battery life, all flash memory for instant bootup, full keyboard with none of the flimsiness the 5mxs had. PCMCIA slot and flashcards. Weight? 12.5oz. I've had one for over 3 years, and frankly, I'm not even slightly interested in a laptop until either something like it becomes available, or it wears out. No sign of the latter happening yet.
That would be my dream machine a take with you everywhere computer with a nice keyboard.
I really would like to see a PC like the Psion 5mx. It is the perfect size to carry everywhere and has a good keyboard.
It has been years since I heard mention of the mighty Psion but it is good to hear the name again as I have fond memories of my old trusty Psion. I would love to se wepc make their version of a retro version of a Psion.
I saw no mention of the OS but to me it needs to run Vista or MAC OS so that it would be more mainstream adopted. Linux is getting better but still is a bit of tech or geek OS still to me.
The Psion was great due to the keyboard, it was so easy to type yet one of the smallest of the handhelds at 6.9". I would not mind if it were 7" at all. I really like the slim profile as it was under an inch and slipped into my coat pocket with ease.
The Psion was and to me still is the best desing for portability and functionality. I could type 85% of desktop speeds with it and if a modern one ran full Windows I would buy one right now!
