PC Idea Description

Basically have one base unit that can do the basics: internet and note taking etc. But make it available at an extremely low price, try for under $199. But what makes it customizable is the fact that everything about it can be chosen my the user, have a easy access slot to swap out different SSDs depending on preference, usb/firewire modules that are able to be put in taken out easily. Have a propietary slot for things like a web-cam or pico-projector etc, and of course all the connection slots should be easily chosen and swapped out such as vga,and other monitor connections, 3g slot or memory card slot. What this makes all in all is a extremely light base model that is cheap enough for everyone that can be then added on to with modules based on each user's preferences for little cost by cutting out things they dont want/need. This would be the ultimate solution in my opinion

I completely agree, and think this is why netbooks are becoming so popular. I too think there's a need for a bold move to low power and low cost. My proposal to achieve the goal of low power and low cost is to use two small screens, one of them text only and one a small color LCD to view youtube videos and such.

Free USB micro-socket/pins on motherboard has been suggested.
USB slot/expansion space like PC Card slot has been suggested.

Basic base with slot and module add-ons is the way to go.

you could make even the screen a detachable module, for when you want to use it like a tablet.
