How about Ubuntu on notbooks as stand alone OS without the need for Microsoft FDSK and MMR stuff

tired of microsoft

good idea, I have Ubuntu 8.04 on a lenovo and it runs great, I just wish Ubuntu would start thinking of being on a computer without windows and better MBR and boot loading that is more stable

I've been using Ubuntu EEE on my EEE 701, really good and makes it a lot easier to install new software. The Netbook Remix interface is very useful too and makes the most of the screen space.

I'd agree and laptops can generally benefit more from linux as chances are you will not be gaming or needing proprietary software. I'd like to have the option at a lower price so that I don't have to pay a license fee for an OS I don't want.

It would just be a hassle for someone to uninstall it who doesn't want it.

I'd prefer windows, but the option to have ubuntu preinstalled on every pc would be great.

HAHA. Easiest shit in the world for them to do from these boards... and they probably still won't.

Thumbs up for Ubunutu tho.

It's much more attractive than those random Linux distros used on EeePCs, whilst being free and well supported. It gives a more sophisticated feel, rather than the "child's toy" like interface that is currently so popular.
