PC Idea Description

My ideal laptop would consist of all the features that are known for a great desktop PC but available at a desktop price.

I have looked at laptops a few times and could never actually grasp why anyone would pay for one when you can get a desktop that will outperform for almost half the price. Unless your a business person or constantly on the run I see no reason to invest in a laptop. That's just my opinion on the matter.

As you can tell, pricing is one of my first concerns with an idea laptop and I do understand that making things tiny and sexy costs more, but just how much more?

1)PRICE!
My laptop would have to be reasonably priced and that means roughly $1,500 or less. That price range would be like snug pair of speedos, comfortable.....

2)FUTURE PROOF!
Once you buy a laptop it becomes pretty much out of date as you can't really upgrade it. for this problems I would look into or create on of those external GPU's that I've heard that can be ran externally from a laptop via USB or...something.
This would allow the laptop to be appreciated from everyone as non gamers could use it for work while people who want to play graphically stressing games could purchase the GPU "add-on". You now have a laptop that could be targeted to two completely separate markets.

3)SPEED!
Now I need some RAM, not 8 gigs but also not 1 gig. I would see 4 gigs would be a pretty comfortable level (Vista) for most people and if someone wants to use this laptop for RAM eating applications it will be made so it can be UPGRADED, this ties in with future proofing :)

Processors are also a very important feature (duh), something dual core and something fast. Have various options for various computers as not everyone needs a 3.8Ghz water cooled CPU. I would think in the range of 2.0Ghz to 3.4Ghz and again, have the option to upgrade (to a certain extent)

That's what I'm looking for in a laptop.

Thanks!
