PC Idea Description
I want a notebook that is included a native quad core -- however if the cores are not actively multi-threating they are shut off. So when I would be browsing the web, I would simply be using a single core. However if I were to be recoding a DVD all four cores would be in full swing! This would primarily help with power management.
That said, I want a laptop that is at LEAST an 8-cell battery. I am sick of these retail notebooks that ONLY ever come with a 6-cell. Ideally it could possibly be even more than 8-cells but I wouldn't want it to be too heavy.
Keeping the laptop at 14 - 15.4" screen would be fine to help with mobility in general. If I need a bigger display I would simply hook it up to my 26" PC monitor.
These are probably my big three for sure. As far as the rest of the specifications I would be able to bend a bit. 2GB of system memory, mid-range graphics would be fine for light gaming here and there (preferably with HDMI out). It'd be great if Intel wanted to throw in a SSD (32-64GB) with an additional expansion slot for a regular 2.5" drive (should I need storage for media).
Lastly, a "modular" motherboard would be great also...this way if one's DC jack were to go bad, rather than having a motherboard replacement, one could simply replace a smaller part of the board. This could also be said for chipsets, integrated graphics, CPU (when soldered), and CMOS/BIOS replacement/upgrades.
