Optimal Hardware Suggestions

In terms of CPU and GPU, Gears 5 isn’t particularly demanding if you are prepared to play at lower settings and are happy with 30 FPS at around 1080p. The recommended specifications should produce a steady 60 FPS at 1080p with most settings on medium.

Where Gears 5 really racks up the requirements is the memory. 8 GB represents a significant amount of RAM, and it’s unlikely that a PC meeting the minimum spec GPU and CPU will have that much memory unless upgraded. Additionally, the storage requirements are quite hefty at 80 GB, so a good clear out of old games and the like is recommended before proceeding with an install of Gears 5.

Gears 5 shines by the work The Coalition has done to create a polished experience, and to do it justice it’s worth playing it at high settings to really tap into the immersive aspect of the game.

What Gaming PC Do We Recommend?

If you want to get the most out of Gears 5 (we’re talking all settings on high/ultra, and 60 FPS at 1440p) and are looking to beef up your current PC to blow the recommended specifications out of the water, we recommend the following;

  • CPU: Intel 6th Gen Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200Mhz or better
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 or AMD Radeon VII

Our suggestion for a top tier $2000 gaming rig will run Gears 5 without any hiccups and although a pricey option offers a degree of future-proofing and the benefit of running most, if not all, games on the market today.
