Today we’re going to be pitting the Vive XR Elite vs Meta Quest 2. This might initially seem like an unfair fight, after all, the Vive XR Elites costs more than double that of the Quest 2.
However, since the Meta Quest Pro’s price was confirmed to be too much for the majority of people, the Quest 2 has been left, by and large, without competition.

CHECK PRICEHmm, that’s weird isn’t? It seems like the specs are almost identical? Yet the prices are pretty far apart. What’s up with that?
Well, dear reader, we’ll explain. Identical specs does not necessarily mean that performance will be identical too.
After all, hardware only tells half the story. The most ridiculously powerful machine is onyl as strong as the software and optimisation that it’s been given.
In the years since the Quallcomm Snapdragon XR2 became available, no doubt that leaps and bounds have been made in how it can be utilized.
However, one specification that is objectively superior is the RAM. The upcoming Vive XR Elite has been confirmed to have 12GB of RAM. This is double that of the Meta Quest 2, and will no doubt give the new guy a considerable leg up over the aging Quest 2.
Again, we can’t say for sure, as we, like almost everyone else, haven’t managed to get ahold of the Vive XR Elite just yet.
Price is tied to performance for sure, however, no inexorably so. The Meta Quest 2 can be had for $398.99. whereas the Vive XR Elite is available for pre order for $1,099.
The sheer difference in price and the fact that one of our options hasn’t been released yet leads us to conclude that the Quest 2 is the best choice. For now…
