There are going to be an insane number of different bundle options when it comes to getting an Xbox Series X or Series S this Black Friday. For once, you should easily be able to find bundles that come with a system and access to Game Pass Ultimate for various periods of time. These bundles are great because they’re like Xbox’s payment plan, but you pay for the system outright and get access to Game Pass, which is 99% of the reason to get an Xbox right now. Other than that, you should be on the lookout for systems that package in an extra controller, or one of the newest AAA game releases, as they’re often cheaper than buying the system and accessories/games separately, even on Black Friday.
You’ve decided a new Xbox is what you want to buy this Black Friday, but how can you know which one is right for you? Here’s a quick overview of the main differences you’ll want to be aware of.
Firstly it’s worth mentioning both of these consoles work with Xbox One accessories and games, so if you’re upgrading from the 2013 console you’re in luck. Both the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X also feature some impressive backward compatibility with several Xbox 360 and original Xbox titles so if retro games are your jam, you’ll have a blast.
The main differences between these machines can be boiled down to their processing power, resolution, and default storage capacity, in all these aspects the Xbox Series X outperforms its little brother. We’re especially fond of its true 4K gaming capabilities. Also of note is the fact that the Xbox Series X comes with a Blu-ray Drive, which comes in especially handy with that backward compatibility, allowing you to play lodes of your old games that have been gathering dust for years.
All that being said, the other big difference is of course the price, and coming in at a not insignificant $200 cheaper, the Xbox Series S becomes a very tempting product, especially given the potential savings to be made with Black Friday discounts.
A bundle is the perfect way to get started with a new console, and Black Friday 2022 will undoubtedly herald some of the best deals we’ve ever seen on the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.
Last year Black Friday didn’t see particularly great deals on the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X but with most retailers having relatively high stock levels of the consoles, especially in comparison to the ever-elusive PlayStation 5, this year we are likely to see some much heftier discounts.
Bundle deals are definitely the best way to launch into gaming on a new console with great reductions to be had on consoles, games, and other accessories like extra controllers all year round. Black Friday takes this sort of deal to the next level meaning these already heavily discounted bundles are begging to be snapped up.
We’re yet to see any spectacular deals on Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X bundles so it’s probably worth holding fire on your purchase until we get a little further into November. Remember Black Friday itself is on November 25th 2022.
