Albert Wesker, of Resident Evil fame, is the new Dead By Daylight killer, and as with any game that consistently adds to its roster of characters, DBD fans are already wondering who will be the next DBD killer.

That’s why we’ve had a little fun scouring through some of pop culture’s favorite and memorable horror characters who would make fun additions to the survival horror game.

As a basic guideline, we have chosen characters from films, tv shows, or games that would add a new element to the game, using unique and fun mechanics in their gameplay. None of these have been confirmed, but it’s fun to hope, right?

Lady Dimitrescu – Resident Evil Village

Ever since her RE7 debut, Lady Dimitrescu (or Lady D to her friends) enamored and enchanted all gamers alike. This nine-foot-tall vampire is a formidable foe; throughout her level in RE7, she stalks and hunts you down with the intent to kill.

Lady D would be a great addition to the game, though perhaps not so soon after Wesker. However, this isn’t impossible speculation because DBD already has a Resident Evil character on their roster.

Springtrap – Five Nights at Freddy’s

This is one many FNAF fans have hoped for, seeing William Afton – also known as Springtrap – in DBD. Not only does he fit the general aesthetic of the horror game, but he is such an infamous character to add to the roster.

The only thing to worry about would be his in-game abilities which begs the question, would Springtrap work as a new killer or just a reskin?

Predator – Predator Franchise

The Predator is a fictional extraterrestrial species you can find in the Predator and Alien vs. Predator franchises. It is characterized by its trophy hunting of other dangerous species for sport, including humans and Xenomorphs.

After the release of Prey, the latest addition to the Predator franchise, this fantastically designed alien monster could certainly lead to some tense DBD games.

Death Angel – A Quiet Place

The Death Angels, often referred to as “The Creatures” by survivors, are a race of extraterrestrial creatures who serve as the primary antagonists in A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place: Part II. They arrived on Earth, referred to as an invasion by humans, inside a meteorite and emerged to begin preying on anything that made even the slightest amount of noise.

These monsters could add a fun playstyle to the game, wherein the killer is blind, apart from seeing the tracks left by survivors, and is hyper-sensitive to the sound they make.

Xenomorph – Alien

One of the most well-known horror monsters of all time, the Xenomorph made its horror debut in the 1979 horror classic Alien. Xenomorphs have been popular enough to warrant a film franchise surrounding them and the critically acclaimed Alien Isolation game.

That game alone proved the value of having the Xenomorph as an in-game horror antagonist. These creatures are fast, dextrous, and highly deadly, making for a great potential killer.

Homerton (Mutant Bear) – Annihilation

You might be surprised to learn that the name of the mutant bear in annihilation is Homerton. That aside, Homerton is a horrifying undead-looking bear that can mimic the voices of the dead, and although it’s blind, that doesn’t make it any less formidable.

Featuring a highly unique and brilliant design, Homerton is a fantastic beast that would make any encounter with it in DBD absolutely terrifying.

Big Daddy – Bioshock

Okay, maybe not a horror staple, but you have to admit being chased down by an angry Big Daddy was certainly one of the scariest parts of the already eerie and creepy Bioshock franchise.

The big hulking beast that is the Big Daddy could be a genuinely fun addition to the roster of killers, possibly even having a Little Sister sidekick that would point out the whereabouts of survivors.

Mindflayer – Baldur’s Gate 3

The infinitely popular Mind Flayers from Wizards of the Coast and Dungeons and Dragons have seen a new video game iteration in Baldur’s Gate 3. They remain just as horrifying as they’re always been.

These psychic tentacle-faced monsters want to expand their empire, and they do so by planting a small tadpole in your eye, which swims up into your brain and slowly turns you into a new Mind Flayer / Illithid. In-game, the mind flayer could use its psychic abilities to capture and find survivors.

Imhotep – The Mummy

Imhotep was an ancient Egyptian priest, the high priest of Osiris, and the adviser to Seti I. For his crimes of murdering the Pharaoh and using dark magic from the book of the dead, Imhotep was executed with mummification, becoming the only known person to be cursed with the Hom-Dai, the evilest of all ancient curses.

As the film progresses, Imhotep starts to look a whole lot more human and alive, but in-game, this could translate in that he starts off looking like the undead and decaying corpse, but the more survivors he attacks and kills, the more human he looks.

There you have it for our pick of who the next DBD killer should be! We’ve gone through some well-known to lesser well-known horror monsters, but each would make for some intriguing and fun gameplay!
