Activision Blizzard, the game developer behind the Call of Duty franchise, has experienced a significant drop in active player numbers, according to its latest financial report. The report indicates that the company boasted a total of 111 million active players in Q4 of 2022.

However, in the latest quarter, that number dropped to 98 million, representing a loss of more than 10 million players.

How many players has Call of Duty Warzone lost?

Warzone 2 lost 10 million players in the span of three months. That’s a pretty big hit. While Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 started out hugely successful, it didn’t stay that way.

Player engagement decreased over time as a result of the negative reception of updates. There are many players who are unhappy with the direction the game is going. While the game has many players overall, it had a low of 90,000 active players for 24 hours in March 2023.

Even Charlie Intel confirmed on Twitter that Warzone Caldera and Vanguard received more players than Warzone 2 and MW2. During the former, Activision had a player count of 100 million, while they’re currently at 98 million, a full two million under the count.

Despite these numbers, it is important to note that we are seeing more players like the game again thanks to new updates. There’s no denying that the gaming industry is dynamic and constantly changing, and Activision Blizzard might have implemented changes to address player feedback.

In the face of these challenges, Activision Blizzard will need to make significant changes to regain the trust and engagement of its players.

This could include adding new content, fixing bugs, and listening to feedback. The game’s popularity has a lot to do with how much fans like new additions and changes, and Activision just needs to stick to what is popular to raise its player base.
