Resident Evil games wouldn’t be as good if they didn’t have bosses that are both difficult and terrifying. Half the bosses mutate while fighting them, making them fierce adversaries. There are 11 bosses that you will need to get through if you want to get Ashley out of this village alive and complete your mission. If you aren’t prepared, these bosses will be very difficult and can easily drain you of all your ammo. Get ready to fend for your life. Here are all the Resident Evil 4 Remake bosses and when you fight them.

Resident Evil 4 Remake boss list

There are 11 bosses in the game that you will eventually end up fighting. You won’t come across your first boss until you reach the lake. This takes place in chapter 3 so you have plenty of searching around the village first. Before any boss fights, make sure you are stocked up on ammo in case you need it going forward.

Del Lago (Lake Monster)

Resident Evil 4 Remake Lake

During chapter 3, you will reach a point where you need to cross the lake so that you can get the item needed to open the church and rescue Ashley. Before crossing the lake, you will get a brief cutscene showing a boat getting capsized by the lake monster. Once you set out, you are immediately attacked by Del Lago and a thrilling boss fight commences with you throwing harpoons at the creature’s back.

El Gigante

Resident Evil 4 Remake Gigante

About halfway through chapter 4, you will be going through the quarry. When you reach a larger, more open area, the gates will close and you will be attacked by El Gigante. This massive foe can easily pick you up and knock you around. Luckily, if you helped the dog earlier in the game, you will have a companion to help you during the fight.

Mendez

Progressing forward to chapter 6, you will finally go toe-to-toe with Mendez. He has been following you for some time but you finally get to fight him inside a barn. During the fight, he will mutate, throw explosive barrels, and try to cut you with his bug-like appendages. This is one of the first difficult fights in the game.

Garrador

Resident Evil 4 Remake Garrador

During chapter 7, you will be going through a dungeon when Leon falls to a floor below. After this, he will come face-to-face with an enemies who’s eyes have been sewn shut. Progress forward into a small room and you will fight this foe. Luckily, you can easily win this fight with some stealth and a little knife action.

Twin Garrador

If one wasn’t bad enough, you now have to have two Garradors. During chapter 10, you will enter the antechamber where there are two Garrador and a bunch of enemies to deal with. We recommend using the Bolt Thrower to help limit the noise you generate. You will also need to return here later in the game if you want to deface Ramon Salazar.

Verdugo

Resident Evil 4 Remake Verdugo Rocket Launcher

Salazar’s right-hand is named Verdugo and he is one nasty creature. During chapter 10, you will be trying to escape the waterways when you come across this powerful foe skulking around. Throughout the fight, you will need to keep freezing Verdugo if you hope to kill him. You can also just use the rocket launcher like we did to finish him off quickly.

Twin El Gigante

Resident Evil 4 Remake Twin Gigante

If you thought one giant was bad, now you need to take on two at once. During chapter 11, you will come across two Gigantes in the blast furnace. Luckily, you will have Luis with you to help distract one while you fight the other. You can also drop them in the pit to easily take them out.

Krauser

Resident Evil 4 Remake Krauser

Krauser makes two appearances in the game. The first time you fight him is during chapter 11 when you and Luis are trying to reach the surface. During this time, you will have a thrilling and brutal knife fight. The second time Krauser comes around is in chapter 14. This time, guns are allowed and he will be mutated so be prepared.

Salazar

Resident Evil 4 Remake Salazar

After ages of listening to him speak, you finally get to fight Salazar in chapter 12. During this fight, Salazar transforms into a large creature that shoots black acid around the map. Stay on your guard and watch out for the mines that are placed as well.

Saddler

Resident Evil 4 Remake Saddler

The final boss of the game is none other than Saddler. This monstrous foe doesn’t go down easily and will require you to maneuver around his attacks frequently. This boss fight comes during chapter 16. Defeat Saddler and you can finally get off the island, rescuing Ashley in the process.

Who is the first boss in the Resident Evil 4 Remake?

While there are many difficult fights leading up to it, the first boss of the game is Del Lago. Other strong enemies such as the chainsaw-wielding villager and the bull-headed villager will appear but those are just more difficult foes to test your skills leading up to the fight. This boss fight happens during chapter 3 and is fairly easy to get through unless you are playing on higher difficulties like Professional Mode. Throughout the fight, you simply need to throw harpoons at Del Lago’s back to kill it.

Who is the hardest boss in the Resident Evil 4 Remake?

Depending on your strengths and the weapons you have, you may consider the hardest boss in the game to be Krauser. Krauser appears twice; once during chapter 11 and once during chapter 14. During his first encounter, you have to parry his attacks fairly often or risk getting killed. Later on, he places many traps that are meant to mess with you leading up to the official fight. These can easily damage you and make you waste your healing items. Once the fight begins, he mutates and must be parried frequently.

A good runner-up to the Krauser fights is Salazar. His fast movements and frequent use of acidic spit makes him an annoying boss to deal with. Taking too long to aim at him will result in you getting damaged and needing to wait until he stops again. Also, he leaves acidic globs around the arena that damage you if you happen to get close to them.
