Apex Legends – Havoc or Devotion?
When it comes to the Havoc or the Devotion, which should you focus on?
Apex Legends is filled to the brim with an assortment of weapons. All of which are different, whether its assault rifles, LMGs or pistols. One of the ways Apex Legends differentiates itself from other Battle Royales lies in the different ammo types, and that each weapon in Apex Legend will belong to a different ammunition group. Energy, light, heavy, sniper, shotgun and arrows. And among all of the ammunition types, energy ammo is one of the more popular among players. Featuring a nice variety of weapons, with the highly popular Volt and the powerful marksman Triple Take. But two of the more powerful energy weapons lay in the wind-up rifles, the Havoc and the Devotion.
Havoc, the Assault Rifle
The Havoc is an energy assault rifle. As with the wind-up weapons, there is a brief delay in firing. The gun ‘winds’ up before releasing a flurry of deadly fire. The Havoc is easy to control too, not having too much recoil making it a lot more manageable to fire with.

Pros and cons
Pros
- High damage per shot.
- High damage per second.
- Highest mag capacity and fastest projectile travel speed of all assault rifles.
- Low projectile drop.
Cons
- Small delay whenever the fire button is pressed without a Turbocharger.
- Strong, difficult to control recoil pattern which impacts the weapon’s effectiveness at long range.
- Slow reload speed.
Devotion, the LMG
The Devotion is an energy Light Machine Gun, it’s a deadly and powerful weapon that when wound up can shred through enemies. However, it comes at the cost of its fairly temperamental recoil. If you can tame the Devotion, along with a Turbocharger, it can be lethal. However, it does have a few issues that the Havoc simply doesn’t.

Pros and cons
Pros
- High fire rate after ramping up.
- Fastest projectile speed in the game.
- Highest damage per second in the game after ramping up.
- High magazine capacity.
Cons
- Reduced spawn rate, therefore harder to find.
- Strong recoil.
- Slow reload speed.
- Slow draw, holster, and switching between weapons speed.
- The ramp-up slow speed can be punishing and therefore, a Turbocharger Hop-Up is almost essential.
- 1× headshot multiplier at 64+ meters.
- High speed penalty when aiming down sights.
- The Devotion is very ammo hungry.
So which one?
If you have a fully decked out energy weapon set, and you’ve got a turbocharger… your best bet is to pick up a Havoc. With it’s higher DMG per shot, and ease of control, it’s the stronger of the two. That being said, the Devotion is a good and lethal weapon that can shred through people faster than they can react, especially if you’re playing as Rampart with the increased ammo capacity.
So our recommendation? Havoc is the more reliable one of the two. But if you’re playing Rampart and have good recoil control, go with the Devotion!
