How do you unlock a heirloom in Apex Legends for free?
Apex Legends Season 14 is here and we’ve got one of the biggest changes the game’s ever seen. The level cap, which was at 500 for several seasons, has now been raised to 2000. This means anyone can get a free heirloom by getting close to the new max level cap.
You can get a total of 544 Apex Packs by leveling up. This is more than enough to get yourself a free heirloom. Here’s how to unlock a free heirloom in Apex Legends.

How to Unlock a Free Heirloom in Apex Legends
Apex Legends account levels are raised by simply playing. If you secure a high placement or play with friends, you get a lot more XP. You should use this to your advantage to level up as quickly as possible. Longer Arenas games sometimes offer almost as much XP as battle royale games, so spend some time in Arenas as well.
Each friend you play with grants a 5% bonus to your survival time XP. If you consistently reach the top three in the battle royale modes, you’ll earn a ton of XP and level up your account rapidly. If you’ve been progressing the Apex Legends battle pass for a while and have participated in events over the year, you’ll have received tons of Apex Packs that will speed up the process of getting an heirloom.
Here is a quick way to check how far you are from your free heirloom:
- Head to the Apex Packs Calculator site here
- Enter your account level by looking at the number near your name in the lobby
- Enter how many packs you have purchased so far
- Type in your battle pass ranks for all seasons. You can find this information from the Legends menu in the badges section
- Enter other information on the website like packs earned from events and you are done.
- The app will now show how many packs you have opened.
How Many Packs Do You Need to Open to Get a Heirloom
You need to open a total of 500 Apex Packs to guarantee an heirloom but if you’re lucky you may get one earlier.
With 544 packs given out for free from leveling up in Apex Legends, you’ll get your free heirloom sooner or later. Veteran players will receive their heirloom a lot sooner as they have participated in more events and have picked up more seasonal rewards while newer players will need to spend some time.
