The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sees Link return to explore Hyrule and fight evil. You’ll spend plenty of time battling bosses and questing throughout the massive world, and it’s all quite challenging. However, you may find yourself asking if there is a way to change the game’s difficulty settings. The answer is easier than solving a puzzle or shrine in the sequel. Here’s whether or not you can change the difficulty in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Does Tears of the Kingdom have difficulty options?

No, the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild does not include difficulty settings. For the time being, you can only play the standard difficulty as you explore the open world. Until an official announcement comes from Nintendo, the game only has one difficult level. You can’t even access it through the menus.

Much like its predecessor, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the sequel could get more challenging difficulty levels as it did with the Master Mode DLC. However, without knowing if DLC is even coming to the second game, it’s difficult to say what to expect from the latest game in the Zelda franchise.

The game does include several new features and mechanics as well. The Fuse ability is brand new for the series and can be difficult to master. As you’ll end up using it to build many different things and solve puzzles, being able to lower the difficulty setting could help reduce frustrations when it comes to navigating the world.

It very well could be that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom could only have one difficulty like Elden Ring. If you find yourself struggling with certain enemies or gameplay, you could try getting better armor to better protect yourself or new weapons to deal more damage.
