When you think of the Legend of Zelda, odds are you think of some of the ingenious puzzle and dungeon designs. The series is known for having some amazing dungeons that really make you think. Everyone has a story of the first dungeon they completed in one of these games.
Breath of the Wild changed Legend of Zelda forever. Instead of dungeons, there were now Divine Beasts to take their place. Since Tears of the Kingdom is a sequel to Breath of the Wild, it is only natural to assume that it would follow the same path. Are there dungeons in Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
Will Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have dungeons?
Yes, there will be dungeons in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Just as many thought from the image of the trailer below, there will be dungeons in the game to get through.
Nintendo could have stuck with the Divine Beasts instead of traditional dungeons. There are already some major changes that have been shown off in the trailers such as Link’s amazing new abilities like Recall. Why wouldn’t Nintendo decide to keep changing the mold? Well, they have.
These dungeons are far more expansive than those of older games, but still follow tradition. To quote an Ask the Developer interview from Nintendo, Satoru Takizawa stated that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kindgom would follow the standard set in older games. To quote him:
“This time, the dungeons are huge and each carry their own regional look and feel, just like traditional The Legend of Zelda games.”
They’re forgoing the Divine Beasts and sticking to the dungeon system. We will most likely see dungeons dedicated to elements and have those that have Link holding his breath, as usual. Still, since it’s a newer game, Nintendo is likely to throw in some new tricks.
