Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition Console Commands – Cheats and More in 2022

Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition was pretty inevitable after Beamdog decided to remake the original Baldur’s Gate. This pair of classic CRPG remakes were released on the same day, providing players with a perfect package retelling a huge chunk of the story of the Sword Coast, or at least, the story of the Sword Coast that we knew back in 2000. Whether you’ve already experienced this cultural touchstone of a game, or you’re a total newcomer, you might be interested in console commands.
Console commands are in-game commands that you can use to achieve various strange effects. You can make yourself insanely strong, or just quickly get access to late-game areas of the map. Either way, you’ll want to check the huge collection of different commands that we’ve compiled for you down below.
How to Enable the Console
To enable the console in the game you’re going to need to make some changes to the game files, but nothing too major. Head for your documents directory and find the Baldur’s Gate II – Enhanced Edition folder. Inside, you’ll find a file either called Baldur.lua or Baldur.ini depending on which version of the game you own. Both can be opened in notepad to be edited, but the line you’ll have to copy in will depend on whether you’ve opened an ini file or a lua file.
For the lua file, you can simply copy this line of text into a new line in notepad.
SetPrivateProfileString('Program Options','Debug Mode','1')
It’s a bit more annoying with the ini file, requiring you to find the line that starts ‘INSERT INTO options ROWS (‘. You’ll need to copy the line below into the aforementioned section. As long as the text is between the open bracket at the end of the ‘INSERT INTO’ line and the closed backed at the en dof the document, as well as being on its own line, then it should work.
'Program Options', 'Debug Mode', '1',
Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition Cheat Keys
Much like the previous game, Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition has several special features that you can use called Cheat Keys. Once you’ve got the command console enabled, enter the command below to enable cheat keys. From then on, you can use the combinations below to get the effect you desire.
C: EnableCheatKeys()
These are the most important effects that you can achieve with Cheat keys. Bear in mind, unlike the last title in the series, using the ‘teleport’ function does take a few moments rather than being instantaneous.
Cheat Key Effect | Cheat Key Combo |
---|---|
Change your visual range | Ctrl+E |
Teleports you to the position of your mouse cursor | Ctrl+J |
Heals character under the mouse cursor | Ctrl+H |
Advance time by 1 hour | Ctrl+T |
Kills creature under the mouse cursor | Ctrl+Y |
Keeps the screen centered on the character under the mouse cursor | Ctrl+P |
Creature under mouse curser joins the party | Ctrl+Q |
Creature under mouse curse leaves the party | Ctrl+K |
(if used at stat selection screen) Gives maxed stats | Ctrl+8 |
Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition Teleportation Console Commands
While the cheat key allows you to teleport around the map that you’re currently in, it’s really important that you’re also able to warp to other locations entirely. The command below will make that possible for you, as long as you have the right Area ID to use with it:
C: MoveToArea("[AreaID]")
We’ve put together some of the more useful places you can go with the command, but each section of map technically has its own area ID.
Area Name | Area ID |
---|---|
Ghoul Town | AR0206 |
Trademeet | AR2000 |
City Gates | AR0020 |
Council of Six Building | AR1002 |
Deril Estate | AR1004 |
Druid Grove | AR1901 |
Graveyard | AR0800 |
Imnesvale Inn | AR1105 |
Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition Cheat Console Commands
You can rely on the above cheat keys and teleportation commands to do mostly everything you’ll need in the game, but if you want to try them out, these commands below can also help to give you a bit of an edge over most of your opponents and obstacles.
