One of the most anticipated games of all time – or maybe just my most anticipated – is the fantasy digital adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons and sequel to the critically acclaimed Baldur’s Gate games. Although players can take to the multiplayer way of playing, by playing with your friends and enjoying the story. But then again, you can also abandon your friends and completely immerse yourself in the game, interacting with the world and characters within it.

And the most interesting characters to interact with are the companions. Although we are now familiar with Astarion, Gale, Wyll, Shadowheart and Lae’zel. There are still three companions we’re waiting to meet! Karlach, Helia and Minsk. Each of which have been confirmed as companions but other than Karlach, we’ve not seen anything of Helia or Minsk (other than some datamined content).

Although we know Karlach is the ‘one-horned tiefling’, for the longest time her in-game model didn’t even reflect that. But as it turns out, that model was just a placeholder. The Nine Hells escapee has gotten a brand new look.

Karlach

A lot of fans think that her body model will end up being different too. Larian have mentioned there will be different builds, strong, skinny, short, tall and so on. And considering all signs seem to point to Karlach being a Paladin (our guess is an Oathbreaker), and a general in the Hells, she’s likely to be stacked. So we can probably expect to see a different body model, larger and stronger.

This does mean that even the datamined version of Helia is probably a placeholder and will change upon full release. In the meantime, what do you think of Karlach’s new design?
