What are the best classes for Elves in Baldur’s Gate 3?

There are many classes to choose from in Baldur’s Gate 3 with some having great weapon proficiencies for combat and others being great magic users. There are many that consider Elves to be among the best races in the game. Here are the classes we think are best for Elves:

  1. Wizard
  2. Druid
  3. Rogue
  4. Ranger
  5. Fighter

Grab your longsword, let’s break down why each of these classes is the best for the Elf race.

Wizard

Those who decide to be a High Elf should consider going with Wizard. Since you already have a cantrip that is reliant on Intelligence, you can stick with this and already have a high Intelligence score for the rest of your spells. The downside to this is you won’t be proficient with many weapons and will have to stay out of most fights.

Thankfully, Wizards come equipped with a good number of spell slots to keep blasting out magic spells. This is a great way to gain proficiency with more skills that are centered around magic as well.

Druid

If you are a Wood Elf then druid may be a good choice for you. This class will benefit from the increased movement speed that Wood Elves get and your Fey Ancestry will provide you aid with many spells. While this isn’t the best class choice overall, it is a great way to get a versatile class. After all, Druids can use some melee weapons. Additionally, Wild Shape is a great way to deal more damage.

Rogue

Another Wood Elf class is the Rogue. Rogues are known for being stealthy and the Wood Elf gets a bonus to stealth. It is like a perfect match. Even Wood Half-Elf users get a good bonus that makes that excellent Rogues. As a Rogue, you will have proficiency with daggers and be good at close-quarters combat. Having the Mage Hand cantrip is great for this class as well so you can also consider choosing this class if you are a High Elf.

Fighter

Fighters are excellent for melee combat and are proficient with many weapons such as shortsword, shortbow, longbow, longsword, spears, pikes, and axes. As a fighter, you will also get to benefit from shields. Those who choose to play as a High Elf will benefit from this class, especially if they decide to be a Battle Master or Eldritch Knight as these benefit the most from having a cantrip added to their arsenal. If only Elves could get a breath weapon.

Ranger

Another class that is perfect for those who decide to be a Wood Elf. Ranger is an excellent class that benefits from the increased movement speed and stealth proficiency. Sure, they don’t have charisma to keep them from a fight but that hardly matters when you stay away from most enemies. Rangers make for great warriors that have a bit of weapon training.
