Do you want to know the best classes for Tieflings in Baldur’s Gate 3? There are many classes to choose from such as wizard, fighter, sorcerer, warlock, bard, cleric, druid, ranger, rogue, monk, barbarian, and paladin. Some nice benefits of Tieflings include Darkvision, which allows them to see in the dark, as well as Hellish Resistance which grants them resistance to fire damage which is great for combat.

There are three different subraces for Tieflings to choose from; Asmodeus Tiefling, Mephistopheles Tiefling, and Zariel Tiefling. Each of these subraces grants a bonus such as the Thaumaturgy cantrip, Mage Hand cantrip, and the Produce Flame cantrip. This means that you get to start the game knowing a little magic no matter what class you choose. Tielfings are great survivors thanks to their arcane abilities.

Being a Dungeons & Dragons RPG, there is plenty to choose from in Baldur’s Gate 3. There are many classes, races, weapons, spells, and more to discover. These devils of the Nine Hells are great for many classes but best for only a few. Here are the best classes for Tieflings in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Best Tiefling classes in Baldur’s Gate 3

Tieflings offer great racial features that make them quite versatile. Similar to Drwarves that have Dwarven Resilience, Tieflings get to take advantage of damage resistance and even get bonus spells. The following classes are best for Tiefling characters.

  1. Paladin
  2. Sorcerer
  3. Barbarian
  4. Rogue
  5. Bard

Let’s break down which class you should choose for each of the subraces.

Paladin – Zariel Tiefling

Thanks to the fire resistance, Tieflings make good up-front fighters. Since many of them also have an affinity for magic, it only makes sense to place them into the paladin class. Thanks to the Zariel subrace having Thaumaturgy, they can use their intimidation to their advantage in a literal sense.

Zariel Tielfings make the best faces and best front-line fighters as they can easily take a blow and work their magic by scaring away any orcs or goblins that may get in the way. As a side note, you also get a bonus for performance checks which is great for paladins since they are charisma casters.

Sorcerer – Mephistopheles or Asmodeus Tiefling

The two subraces for Tiefling that are better when it comes to magic are the Mephistopheles and Asmodeus subraces. Both of these subraces get the fire resistance but they also start off with a cantrip that is either utility-based or able to be used in combat. Some other races like High Elf and Githyanki also get starting spells.

Starting spells are great for Sorcerers because it is one extra spell to add to the list that they get their hands on. It should be noted that the Asmodeus Tieflings are better sorcerers because they start off with an attack and utility spell instead of a spectral hand which is only utility-based.

Barbarian – Zariel Tiefling

The Zariel Teiflings are always the best when it comes to being the attackers. Their fire resistance makes them great barbarians since they can run through any sort of fire on the battlefield and get hurt less than Halflings, Gnomes, Wood Elves, or Drow. The only race that gets as good of a resistance is the Red Dragonborn as they are resistant to fire as well.

Just like with paladins, Zariel Tieflings can use Thaumaturgy to their advantage to be very intimidating or make performance checks. They may not get amazing weapon proficiency but that is hardly necessary when you have brute strength, good dexterity, and a little wisdom. These natural survivors are meant to be strong fighters.

Rogue – Mephistopheles Tiefling

Mephistopheles Tielfings make for good rogues. They also make good arcane tricksters. After all, they have the Mage Hand cantrip to start. This means that you can use the cantrip to aid you in your petty crimes of stealing gold and list weapons like pikes and spears from guards.

Having natural Darkvision will help in melee combat so you can sneak up on enemies with a good stealth check. You can also take advantage of the Tiefling’s good racial speed. Overall, the race has good versatility when it comes to melee combatants.

Bard – Asmodeus or Zariel Tiefling

When it comes to playing a devilish bard, going with the Asmodeus or Zariel subraces will give you the best outcomes. For starters, Asmodeus Tieflings have a starting attack spell. This gives you the ability to choose more utility spells starting out. A nice bonus as bards are mainly utility and support.

On the other side, Zariel Tieflings get Thaumaturgy which grants them advantage on performance checks. You can be intimidating as a barbarian and then turn that aggression into a stellar performance. Your weapon training can be used as an art form instead of for war.
