The following guide will tell you both how to add friends on the Battlefield 2042 beta, and then how to play Battlefield 2042 with those friends.

The Battlefield 2042 open beta is now live, running from October 6 – 9, 2021 (at least for those with Early Access, the rest are restricted to playing the game on October 8 – 9, 2021), and predictably it’s proved hugely popular. If you want to make the most of the experience with your friends, then read through the easy steps below.

How to add people as friends in Battlefield 2042

If you come across someone in-game when playing Battlefield 2042 and you’d just love to slay fools again in the near future, you can add them as a friend in your Origin account through the following easy steps:

1. Press Escape on your keyboard to return to the main menu.
2. Click on Squad then Players.
3. Select the name of the individual from the list of players in the match.
4. After clicking on their name, click on View Profile to bring up their Origin acocunt.
5. Simply click the Send friend request button and await for their response.
6. Assuming the player accepts your friend request, they will show up on your friend list. From there you can invite them to your party when you want to play together (see the steps below).

How to Play Battlefield 2042 with friends

In order to play Battlefield 2042 with friends you have already added as such on your Origin account (see above), then go through the below steps one-by-one in order to invite them to your party so that you can play with them:

1. Join a party or create your own.
2. Naviagate to the home screen and click on Social in the bottom right.
3. A list of players should appear. Simply select the ones you want and invite them to the party.
4. You can have a maximum of 4 people in a party on Battlefield 2042, who will all be dragged into whichever game you play.

Does Battlefield 2042 beta support crossplay?

Although Battlefield 2042 crossplay will be a feature on the full release of the game, the beta does not currently have this functionality when it comes to making parties.

To note also, whilst crossplay will be available between players of different next-gen consoles, Battlefield 2042 will not support cross-gen between consoles of different generations. For example, PS4 gamers will not be able to play with PS5 gamers, so if your friends have Battlefield 2042 on an older platform than you, commiserations!
