After a long three years, Battlefield 2042 is just over the horizon. Players are so close to get back in the battle, especially after the newly released trailer. We got a proper look into what to expect in the upcoming FPS by DICE. The last Battlefield game was 2018’s Battlefield V. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for the next game in the franchise.
The full game isn’t set to release until November 19th, but until then players can hop into the Open Beta to get an early taste of the game. The Open Beta will be a timed event, where you can experience and play the game for a few days.
What is the early access?
The main difference between the early access and open beta lies in the two days extra playtime early access gets. EA Play members or people who’ve pre-ordered the game will have access to these two extra days starting October 6.
If you pre-ordered a physical copy of the game, make sure you redeem the pre-order code that the retailer gave you when you purchased it. If you’re an EA Play member, be sure you’re logged into the correct account to get early access.
Early access is available at 07:00 UTC all platforms for anyone who has pre-ordered Battlefield 2042 or is an EA Play member. General open beta access begins on October 8 at 07:00 UTC on all platforms.
What will I experience during the Open Beta?
In the Open Beta, players will get to see all the new features and try them out for themselves. Battlefield 2042 seems to be putting a lot of focus on environmental hazards and a more immersive experience. And although the open beta only has two maps to play from, it’ll hopefully give you a good idea of what the full game will be like.
The open beta is mainly intended to give developers a taste on their end too. They’ll be able to see how their servers are handling the large number of players. This is likely why the open beta will be taking place during the weekday, as opposed to the weekend. Otherwise servers might get swamped and we’ll see a recreation of the New World server issues.
