Battlefield 2042 Games Modes – Hazard Zone
We are getting a new way to play Battlefield with the forthcoming Hazard Zone but very little is know about this secret space, even at this late stage.

Battlefield 2042 developer DICE has previously discussed in limited detail a new mode coming to the game known as Hazard Zone. Even at this stage we still know relatively little about the new mode, but what we do know is getting us pretty excited that it could be something special.
Is it Hazard Zone or Hazard Mode?
It’s very definitely a mode called Battlefield Hazard Zone even though many people continue to search for Hazrd Mode. This name at least suggests that it is a specific areal / zone of the game, that’s well, er hazardous. If that was all we had to go on it would be so far so meh, but thankfully we have a few more tidbits of knowledge about what we might expect in the finished Hazard Zone.
What is Battlefield 2042 Hazard Mode?
EA and DICE are tellings at the Hazard Mode is “an all-new, high-stakes, squad-based game type that is a modern take on the multiplayer experience.” and all this while it will remain “distinctly Battlefield” So read into that what you will.
So a Battle Royale then? After all everybody is doing that. However, even though it certainly looks like it will be that kind of mode, all is not completely clear at this stage.
Daniel Berlin, Senior Design Director at Dice said: “The important thing to remember is that this is not a battle royale mode. It’s something we’re building for Battlefield, it’s something that is ours, but it’s really built on those mechanics, those high-stakes mechanics that build tension as you play — those sweaty palm moments.
“We are a squad-based teamplay shooter, and there’s no other space within 2042 where the choices you make in terms of specialists, weapons, and gadgets — there’s such an incredibly high importance in this mode. There’s really really tight squadplay, tight communication is important, and (it) is built around the tension-filled gameplay.”
Is Hazard Mode a Battle Royale?
Potentially. Well almost certainly to an extent but it’s certainly not being pitched as one. To be honest, we aren’t really sure when becoming a Battle Royale became frowned upon, but more and more companies seem keen to distance themselves from the playstyle
When will Battlefield 2042 Hazard Mode be released?
Nothing confirmed yet but we would be kind of surprised if it didn’t ship with the release of the full game on November 19th, or certainly around that date so ease the pressure on the servers.
