With the Diablo 4 early access open beta and server slam allowing access to the game, we got a look at the performance of the game. Now that we know the Diablo 4 system requirements, we now test out the framerates and quality and to help bring the best graphics settings for Diablo 4.

There is a variety of performances available with even the best GPUs. So the performance may vary quite significantly depending on your whole gaming PC.

The game itself is not overwhelmingly demanding. The recommended settings from the beta only asked for a graphics card on the level of a GTX 970 or RX 470. 4GB of VRAM and DX12 support that is present in many modern cards. For launch, these specs are placed at the ‘medium’ system requirements level.

Best PC Settings for Diablo 4

So, let’s take a look at the settings available in Diablo 4 for PC right now. There have been a ton of advancements in graphics since way back when Diablo 3 was released, so let’s see how the newest title in the Diablo franchise will utilize them.

The game features many of the settings we’ve come to expect in modern titles. We’re happy to see that DLSS is featured within the performance heading of the graphics settings. Resolution percentage scaling is available as you’d expect.

Along with that, the graphics settings go into great detail and allow you to customize nearly every option imaginable. We’ll be inspecting them more closely just below.

Before continuing, you will want to make sure that your PC meets the minimum requirements to play Diablo 4 by guaranteeing that you have the correct Intel Core processor, AMD Ryzen or Nvidia Geforce GTX GPU, and a decent monitor. How to improve your FPS in Diablo 4

If you’re running Diablo 4 on a particularly low-end machine, you may struggle with choppy gameplay. Thankfully, the game isn’t the most difficult to run, especially in this day and age. We know that many players are still working with older hardware though. Diablo 4 provides are ton of options to tinker with, and that serves as the perfect playground to optimize our FPS as much as we can.

Improving both FPS and visibility can be important to players which want to enjoy the gameplay to it’s fullest. Let’s talk about all the ways you can optimize Diablo 4. We also recommend checking out how to optimize Windows for gaming.

  • Use low settings and uncheck extra graphical features where possible, though it’s advised that you stick to your native resolution and refresh rate to not degrade the experience too much. Vertical Sync can also be set to off for lower input lag if you can consistently reach your refresh rate.
  • Fullscreen mode advised. Stutters and input lag may occur when playing in windowed or windowed fullscreen mode.
  • Make sure the correct graphics adapter option is selected, especially if you have integrated graphics on your machine – use the dedicated graphics card instead.
  • DLSS option – The quality setting is the most ideal, but the ultra-performance aims to provide you with the biggest boost in framerate. Make sure your resolution percentage is at 100% if you skip this option.
  • If you’re getting too many frames and experience random stutters due to high load, it’s a good idea to set the max FPS to a more modest level that suits your needs. 240fps or 144fps are good to aim for if you can reach these values.

Final word

As you enjoy the game you can hone in on what the best settings are for your hardware. Although these may vary after development continues on the game, at least it will give you a good idea of what to expect. There are various settings that are best under a preference you deserve such as the font scale and color blind filter.

It feels like Blizzard is trying to make the game accessible to all. From the lenient system requirements, allowing most to play the game on low graphics settings, to the excellent controller support, most gaming PCs will be able to handle Diablo 4.
