Players recently gained the ability to pick their country’s flag in Call of Duty. This is a fantastic way to show your nationality and feel a bit more pride in where you live.

While it was meant to give everyone a bit of representation, a flag was noticeably missing.

Mexico left out of Call of Duty

Mexico has been left out of Call of Duty’s flags and this isn’t the first time. Mexico was left out of Modern Warfare’s calling cards as well, and it may be more than a coincidence.

Many players were quick to jump into the irony of a game having missions in Mexico yet not having the Mexican flag. It is also strange because so many players are Mexican, and Northern American culture usually recognizes the three countries that live there.

The United States and Canada are not present, but there may be a good reason for Mexico’s exclusion.

According to some players, the Mexican Government does not allow Call of Duty to show their flag. While this seems silly, there are many reasons for this:

  • Some countries may feel offended seeing certain other flags and refuse to let theirs if another country’s flag is there (like China and Taiwan or Israel and Palestine)
  • Some countries may want a fee for allowing their country to be represented by players
  • Some countries just don’t want to be associated with the game.

Whatever the reason may be, Mexico may be left out in the long run. This is a disappointment for many players, but some fans are pointing out other flags missing from the roster: Ukraine and Palestine.

Mexico is still in the missions of MW2’s campaign, but those may be under different rules. Either way, we don’t know. It would make things easier if Activision released a statement on why some countries aren’t represented in the game.

So far, they’ve been tight-lipped about the exclusion of the countries.
