Call of Duty Vanguard will have the iconic Zombies mode. A new endless wave of undead is coming and we’ll be seeing a return to World War II themed maps and events for our zombies. Here’s all we know about the new Zombies mode in Vanguard, with the new map, weapons and more.
Call of Duty Zombies have always been absolutely wild. Although the first few maps were slightly more grounded in reality (which isn’t saying much), they quickly ended up becoming wildly creative and fantastical. Then again, if you’re playing a shoot-em-up with zombies, I doubt you’re a stickler for realism.
We started with the undead, moved onto hellhounds, then we quickly shot up toward giant robots, dragons and the devil. Honestly, I’m excited to see what Treyarch are going to do next and how they’ll up the ante even more.
New Zombies map – War of the Dead
After Activision confirmed zombies would be returning, that’s when the leaks started. It started with the leak of the next and new zombies map by Call of Duty insider TheMW2Ghost. Who gave up an idea of what to expect from this map: “Imagine Outbreak, Onslaught, and Rounds had a baby.”
Considering the very unique playstyles each of those maps have, it does make us wonder how exactly this new one will be played. Outbreak added a new ‘open-world’ element to the typically closed off zombies maps. Onslaught, on the other hand, was a little controversial, considering the community reaction. However, Treyarch have updated this mode and taken on community feedback. What Onslaught brought forth to the zombies game was zombie-fighting in the multiplayer maps and a limited space of play.
As for what War of the Dead will do special, we’ll have to wait and see!
Vanguard Zombies release
Unfortunately, Vanguard’s zombies will not be available at launch. Something that does feel both strange and frustrating, but it seems as though Sledgehammer Games are withholding it. Perhaps they want to polish it more or they don’t want to put a strain on the CoDD Vanguard servers.
Either way, there’s not been an official release date but there has been a leak. The leak suggests that November 23rd will be the Zombies release date.
