Can you play Zelda Tears of the Kingdom on PC? Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is obviously a Nintendo Switch exclusive and is not available for PC players, however, it is possible to emulate. It is already being reported that a leaked version of The Legend of Zelda is now playable on PC via emulation, which Nintendo has not officially recognized at this stage. We wouldn’t recommend playing Zelda via emulation as Nintendo has been known to crack down on those that play its titles illegally.

The official release date for Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is set for May 12th, which makes the latest developments around emulation a bit surprising. We saw Breath of the Wild eventually make its way to PC via emulation and it was only a matter of time before Tears of the Kingdom followed.

Can you play Zelda Tears of the Kingdom on PC?

No, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom will not be on PC. Any ports from PC are pirated, illegal, and should not be played. Games will be emulated and it has happened before however there are no plans by Nintendo to launch the game on a PC port and for the foreseeable seems to be restricted to the Nintendo platform.

Should you play Zelda Tears of the Kingdom on PC?

While it looks as though you can already do so, with further emulation support looking likely to come when the game releases, you shouldn’t. We understand not everyone can afford a new console but the game was designed for the Switch, and your best experience possible will be through that platform. Remember, game creators won’t see any reward for their hard work when emulating.

Another major reason not to bother is the fact that not all games work perfectly when emulated. It is no easy task to get an emulated game spot on, which can mean that certain textures or effects may not play properly.

Another issue, albeit small in the modern world is the need for a compatible controller. You can obviously map the keys to whatever you would like but when a game is designed for a controller, it is often better to use one for that emulated platform for authenticity.
