Crusader Kings 2 is an excellent grand strategy title that allows players to take control of their own medieval kingdom and run it however they like. It’s a game so deep and involving that some people have poured years of their lives into mastering its ins and outs. Despite the absolute wealth of content involved in the game, it is still possible for your time with the game to run its course, so what do you do when you run out of new ways to experience the game? The answer is to turn to console commands.
Console commands come in a huge number of different forms, and they can really add a bit of spice to the way that you play the game. Having said that, there are so many different commands that it can be difficult to wrap your head around them all. That’s why we’ve put together this list of all the most useful commands in the game.
How to Open the Command Console in Crusader Kings 2
Unlike the sequel, Crusader Kings 3, you won’t have to jump through hoops to get the command console up and running. However, you still won’t be able to activate the console in Ironman mode, so make sure you’re playing a different game mode before you try out these keys or nothing is going to happen. Typically, you can open the console with the ‘`’ key below escape. However, on some keyboard layouts, you’ll need to try to hit the above key, or the ‘§’ key with whatever key combo makes this happen.
Crusader Kings 2 Useful Console Commands
Since there are so many different console commands at your disposal, we’ve compiled them into a couple of different categories to make them easier to find when you need them.

Crusader Kings 2 Character Console Commands
As well as commands that give you and other characters resources, you can also use commands that change fundamental stats and abilities that various characters have. However, unlike other commands, you’ll need extra information about your target character before the below commands will work. To get it, use the following:
charinfo
When you type in this command, it will make debug information visible to the player. Now, when you mouse over a character, you should see a section at the bottom titled DEBUG INFO. The Character ID listed is unique to that specific character, so when you see [character id] below, you’ll need to find the numerical ID for who you want to target, and that includes characters that you control.
