With the 2023 competitive scene in full swing, there is plenty to look forward to with the next CSGO Major coming this year. So we see when in fact is the CSGO Blast TV Paris Major 2023 start date and who we think might have a chance of winning.

If you’re not in the loop, CSGO Majors are the biggest tournaments throughout the year. They are sponsored by Valve themselves and have a prize pool of at least $1 million. So they are the big ones that everyone wants to get their hands on. The format allows 16 teams to fight in the New Challenger Stage, where 8 teams proceed to the New Legends Stage, with 8 teams qualifying for the New Champions Stage for the gith for the Major Champion title.

Now with the stickers finally released, days before the event, you can start supporting your teams. As well as the available viewer pass which will let you go for the pick ’ems and try your hand for the diamond coin.

CSGO Blast TV Paris Major 2023 start date

This Major is being hosted by the organizer Blast, which hosts plenty of other tournaments in the CSGO pro scene with their Premier events. Now stepping up to the big event, the CSGO Blast TV Paris Major 2023 will start on the 8th of May 2023. The whole tournament running for two weeks, with the Grand Final happening on the 21st of May.

The two weeks are split into different stages as stated above is standard for a Major. So the Challengers stage is what starts on the 8th, running until the 11th. There, 16 teams get a chance to get into the next stage, but only 8 teams go through. And there are some big names in there, like G2, Faze, and NIP that have to fight their way in. With a Swiss System format with best of 3s for elimination and advancement matches but best of 1s for the rest of the games.

Next will be the Legends stage, running from the 13th to the 16th, it also has a 16-team Swiss System. With BO3 and BO1s for the matches being played. Here sit the 8 teams that qualified highest and feature the big names, but also surprises like Into the Breach.

Finally, the top 8 teams qualify for the Champions Stage. This will run from the 18th to the 21st, in a single Elimination bracket with all games being BO3. And whoever makes it to the end gets the Major Winner trophy.

Will the Paris Major be the final CSGO Major?

Unfortunately yes, the Blast TV Paris Major will be the last CSGO Major. With the Counter-Strike 2 release date at some point in the summer, it means everyone will be moving away from the older CSGO game now. As was confirmed by the official CounterStrike Twitter account.

But don’t fret, the next Major has already been confirmed. The tweet also says that the first Major for Counter-Strike 2 will be in March 2024. This is a whole 10 months after the Paris Major but does mean everyone can get good practice in the new game. But there will be other tournaments in the meantime anyway. With the likes of IEM Cologne, ESL Pro League, and Blast Premier penciled in for the rest of the year. Even before the PGL CS2 Major in Copenhagen in 2024.

Who will win the Blast TV Paris Major?

The top teams in CSGO are very fluid, the last big event was IEM Rio 2023, and there, Vitality was the one to lift the trophy. So they might be a good candidate to be the next Major winner. But they have a very up-and-down performance, coming 5-6th at IEM Katowice in February, and 5-8th in the ESL Pro League in March.

So we look to previous Majors, and there, at RIO Major 2022 Outsiders were the winners, with Heroic coming second. Renamed back to Virtus.pro that team is not even in the tournament, so they can’t even compete for it. And as the in-game leader of Heroic says, the time they went to Rio and lost, they won the tournament after.

However, there is plenty of possibilities. There are plenty of strong teams in contention. 9INE, and Intro the Breach are the underdogs with a good chance in the Legends Stage. But other strong teams like G2, NIP, and FAZE could still come back in the Challengers. So it is all to play for at the Paris Major.

CSGO Paris Major Challenger Pick ’ems

If you’ve got the viewer pass for the CSGO Paris Major, you also get access to pick ’ems. And with that, you’ll hope to get the diamond coin for getting them right. As well as being able to get more souvenir packages. So if you’re looking for some help we can get a look at what might be the right teams to look at for the Challengers stage. We look to the wisdom of HLTV confirmed, where SPUNJ, Professeur, and Striker have a good look at what might happen at that stage.

For their initial selection, the team goes for a G2 3-0, a high-ranking team that is surprising to see in the Challengers stage. The Mongolz set for an 0-3 dropout. And then the rest of the teams that proceed are Faze, MOUZ, ENCE, Team Liquid, OG, Forze, and Monte. Whilst through the play-by-play after, this is slightly revised. Here they have Forze & G2 for a 3-0 win, whilst Fluxo & Greyhound for an 0-3. With ENCE, MOUZ, Monte, Team Liquid, Pain, and Forze set to make it to the Legends stage
