If you want to be a successful cult leader in Cult of the Lamb, you’re going to need your followers’ Faith.

And you can only do that if you learn how to keep them happy.

This is easier said than done, as the woodland critters that make up your flock can be a needy bunch.

We’ll give you some tips on how to keep your followers’ Faith high with our Cult of the Lamb guide.

Cult Of The Lamb Guide: Make Sure Your Followers Have Enough Beds

Quests and Rests

When you begin playing Cult of the Lamb, you may feel as if your followers’ Faith is dropping no matter what you do. But as it turns out, there’s a good reason why you may be hitting rock bottom and staying there.

Whenever your followers are about to sleep, they’ll experience a large drop in Faith if there aren’t enough beds for all of them. And, of course, you start off without any beds built at all.

Sleeping bags should be the first upgrade you unlock in Cult of the Lamb. Prioritize making enough of them not only for your existing followers but a couple surplus for any you may bump into out in the woods.

Cult Of The Lamb Guide: Prioritize Sermons Once Per Day

Sermons not only grant you XP to unlock new weapon tiers, health upgrades and curses, but they also provide a flat Faith boost once per day.

There’s no reason not to take advantage of this whenever it’s available, as often the boost can top up your faith and prevent it from freefalling.

Cult Of The Lamb Guide: Re-Convert Dissenters (Or Just Sacrifice Them)

Dissenters wreak havoc on your Faith in Cult of the Lamb. When your Faith drops low enough, some of your followers may turn against you and begin spreading dissent to other members of your flock. This can lead to a negative spiral where any Faith gained is quickly wiped out by the Dissenter.

You’ll want to deal with dissenters as quickly as possible. By providing enough boosts to faith in a short span of time, it’s possible to re-convert them to your cause. Stack rituals, cooking and crafting new buildings, and whatever you need to do to get them back on side.

However, if it doesn’t seem possible for you to sway dissenters, it might be worth getting rid of them in another way.

An early doctrine upgrade allows you to murder followers, and if you do so at night you’re less likely to face any repercussions. While this may be a grim solution, it’s better than your whole flock turning against you.

And if all else fails, you can just feed the dissenter a poisoned meal and claim it was an accident.

Cook Regularly

Cooking quests

It can be quite a challenge to keep your followers’ bellies full and their Faith high early in Cult of the Lamb. You might at first be tempted to stretch your food supply thin. But doing so can quickly tip your cult over into starvation, and their Faith will regularly drop until they are full again.

Before heading out, take note of the hunger bar, and top up your followers with some food if you expect to be gone for a while.

Give Gifts

When exploring Cult of the Lamb’s dungeons, you’ll often run into chests that contain gifts for your followers. These gifts can be pieces of equipment, granting abilities and boosts to your flock. But no matter what the gift is, simply giving it boosts your cult’s Faith by a decent amount, so don’t be shy about handing out the gifts.

Complete Quests

Your flock frequently come sto you with requests and favors. Completing these quests grants a large Faith boost in Cult of the Lamb, so it’s often worth going out of your way to do so and keep your followers as happy as possible. Completing their quests also increases their loyalty, which allows you to upgrade to the higher tiers that much quicker in Cult of the Lamb.

Turning down quests results in a huge Faith loss in Cult of the Lamb, but not quite as much as failing a quest. If you know there’s absolutely no way you’re going to be able to do what a follower asks of you, it’s better to take the hit and work it off in other ways. Cult of the Lamb has a huge amount of quests to complete so don’t feel too bad if a few don’t work out.

When In Doubt, Give Them a Pep Talk

For every follower that you give the once-per-day blessing to, your cult’s Faith received a +5 boost.

When you have a lot of followers, this can be a significant boost.

Just be aware that it takes time to get through your whole flock. Checking in with everyone could prevent you from taking more active measures to prevent Faith loss.

Perform Rituals When You Really Need a Boost

Rituals have a lengthy cooldown period, and as such are not the most reliable method of boosting Faith in Cult of the Lamb. But the benefits that they grant are significant, and can often be used to break you out of a low Faith rut.

While Rituals can be used to sway the hearts and minds of your cult, they require resources to perform, most notably bones. Collect your fallen foes’ bones wherever possible.

Break a Losing Streak In an Easier Area

Every time you die on a run in Cult of the Lamb, your followers take notice. Your fallibility in their eyes earns you a drop in Faith. Too many failed runs in a row can quickly spell dissent and disaster.

If you’re dying to the same challenge, again and again, try returning to a previously completed area to gather some resources. This should allow you to rebuild your Faith back up again, without the sting of failure undercutting your attempts.
