Cult of The Lamb Upgrades: Sleeping Bags

Cult of the Lamb Best upgrades sleeping bag

It’s absolutely essential to unlock sleeping bags as early as possible in Cult of The Lamb. You may not notice at first if you’re always out fighting through the woods, but when you return to your followers, their faith will be dropping lower and lower.

This is because you need to build at least one bed per cult member. If night comes and there are not enough beds, you’re going to alienate your followers and keep losing overall faith. It’s wise to keep some beds as surplus too. If a new follower joins and there isn’t immediately a bed for them, you’re going to see a drop in Faith very soon.

Farm Plot

Cult of the Lamb best upgrades Farm Plot Faith

Keep your followers happy in Cult of the Lamb to keep them faithful. One of the most crucial ways of doing that is ensuring they spend the day with a full stomach.

Your starvation meter is constantly ticking down in Cult of the Lamb, whether you’re out on a crusade or sticking around at your base. Followers can begin to starve very quickly if you aren’t careful

Farm plots allow you to plant seeds and grow your own food supply.

Having enough plots to grow a reliable supply of berries helps ensure that you can always stave off your followers’ hunger in the early game. Just watch out for the birds that can swoop in and steal the seeds.

Prison

Cult of the Lamb Dissenters Prison

Frustrated by followers becoming dissenters? The Prison might be the answer to your woes.

When followers lose faith and begin to dissent, they’ll do their best to break your other followers out from under your spell.

Dissenters move around your base and constantly lower your overall faith as they do so. By using the prison, you can confine them to a single space and gradually lower their level of dissent until they become a follower once more.

It can be tricky to deal with dissenters in Cult of the Lamb, and the prison gives you an option for dealing with them without killing them outright.

Cult of the Lamb Upgrades: Harvest Totem

Harvest Totem Faith

The Harvest Totem takes some working up to in Cult of the Lamb. It won’t be unlockable until you’ve progressed through a few upgrade tiers, but don’t let that dissuade you.

When placed within range of Farm Plots, the Harvest Totem speeds up the time in which those plots grow seeds into flowers, food, and more. With how quickly your followers can grow hungry, Harvest Totems allow you to outpace their hunger with your resources.

With a Harvest Totem active, you’ll often return from a crusade in the woods to find that your crops are all ready for harvesting.

Demon Summoning Circle

Demon Followers Faith

The Demon Summoning circle allows your followers to directly impact your crusades.

This building allows you to bring select followers into the woods with you, and have them aid you in battle. Having the extra help along can make a huge difference on a run, even if you have to let your followers be possessed in the process.

Missionary

Missionary Cult Faith Followers

The Missionary upgrade allows you to send your followers out on resource-gathering runs.

While many of the best options to take early on in Cult of the Lamb allow you to take care of your followers’ needs, missionaries allows them to start giving back. This can be useful for adding to your stocks of gold, wood, and stone, but also for acquiring some rarer items that you may not encounter often in your own expeditions.

This option doesn’t come without risk, however. There’s always a chance that your followers might not make it back in one piece from their quests. Make sure you’re weighing the risks before you send out someone you aren’t prepared to lose.

Cult of the Lamb Upgrades: Healing Bay

Cult of the Lamb best upgrades followers healing

It’s not only hunger you have to worry about in Cult of the Lamb. If your camp is unsanitary – or if they eat something poisonous or otherwise unhealthy – your followers can become sick too. If that sickness progresses for too long, that follower can die, causing a huge drop in faith.

When you first start the game, the best thing to do with a sick follower is command them to rest in bed until the sickness is gone. But this can mean you’re without a worshiper or worker for days at a time. Building the sick bay allows you to drastically cut down on follower recovery time, allowing them to get back to work after just a short rest.

Cheaper Rituals

Cheaper Rituals for followers

Rituals are one of the best ways to manage all of your followers’ needs, as well as gain bonus XP and loyalty. But using them can take a huge chunk out of your available resources. Cheaper Rituals cuts the number of expended resources in half, allowing you to use rituals much more frequently when their cooldowns reset.

Scarecrow

Cult of the Lamb best upgrades scarecrow

No matter how much time you spend with Cult of the Lamb, it remains incredibly frustrating to have pesky birds swoop in and steal your crops after all the work you put into growing them.

Growing crops – especially without the aid of a Harvest Totem – is a lengthy process. So to have that work undone because you looked away for a second feels like a real loss. And that’s where scarecrows come in. Simply placing a scarecrow within range of your Farm Plots wards off the hungry birds, leaving you to harvest to your heart’s content.

Shelter

Shelter Upgrade

An upgrade to the sleeping bag that’s far less likely to break overnight. The Shelter isn’t an immediately necessary upgrade, as regular sleeping bags suffice to keep followers from losing faith at night, and can be repaired if broken.

However, repairing sleeping bags costs resources, and the earlier you upgrade your shelter, the fewer resources you’ll have to spend on regular repairs. If you have points to spare, getting a shelter upgrade within the first few hours of Cult of the Lamb is highly recommended.
