The game is finally here and from our Dead Island 2 review it’s clear you’re in for a very good time – especially if you can browse from a Dead Island 2 weapon list in advance. The weapons and firepower that are available to you in the game provide a huge reason that the combat is as excellent as it is ridiculous – and Dead Island 2 has a lot of weapons which you unlock as you make your way through the game. There are a number of weapon tiers, called rarities, which drastically affect how powerful each weapon is. The weapons tiers are as follows:

• Common
• Uncommon
• Rare
• Superior
• Legendary

Legendary weapons are achieved through numerous challenges. So far from our time spent with the game, we have only unlocked one – which was a reward for completing the game – but there will be others, which we list below. Finally, we go through our best loadout for Dead Island 2. As you can carry up to 16 weapons at a time, you won’t be short on choices, but some guns and melee options stand head and shoulders above the rest.

All weapons can have elemental effects applied to them. These are: fire, bleed, acid, and shock. As you would expect with Dead Island 2’s gore system, the effects of these vary and cause different types of massive damage to the undead. Dead Island 2 weapons list

There are a number of weapons on Dead Island 2. Here, we’ve listed them in order of how good they are. As you can see from the list, the majority of weapons are geared toward close-range combat – but it’s the long-range guns that are the most effective as wiping out zombie hordes. The list has the strongest items on the top, with the lowest rated at the bottom.

How many weapons are in Dead Island 2?

There is a total of 25 weapons in Dead Island 2 – this is between melee and long-range weapons (i.e Guns).

Note: These are all the weapons we encountered in our playthrough. There may well be more, which we’ll add as we spend more time with the game.

Melee weapons

It’s worth remembering that mellee weapons are ‘filed’ into four categories in the game, as follows:

• Maiming – As it sounds: maim and cut off limbs to regenerate stamina.
• Frenzy – Enables you to engage in rapid attacks that cause critical hits and have a stackable boost to attack speed.
• Bulldozer – A tanky kind of attack, these weapons have heavy attacks that are all critical hits, and then cause explosions when thrown.
• Headhunter – These offer critical hits when targeted at the head, while heavy attacks boost agility.

With that in mind, here are the 19 melee weapons in Dead Island 2:

There are also 13 items called Curve Balls – which essentially act as throwable objects. These can be found across the whole game and in multiple missions and areas, but never miss the opportunity to get them as they can add another level of variety to your combat. They can also provide rather handy for getting out of tricky situations or developing new combat-style around. Anyway, these are the curveballs:

Dead Island 2 best loadout

While there is a lot of firepower to choose from, from or playthrough, the best combination we found that gave you stopping power at long range, and plenty of damage with melee attacks was a combination of the Carbine, Hunting Rifle, and the crescent blades.

The Molotov is probably the best Curve Ball in the game as it inflicts a ton of damage on zombie hordes, and can be used to buy time to get out of sticky situations. But as we say above, a lot of the curveballs can do that so don’t discount any too easily!

What are the secret weapons in Dead Island 2?

Dead Island 2 will consist of ‘secret weapons’ however this is pointing towards Legendary Weapons that are included in Dead Island 2, these will be guns that are unlockable after completion of certain quests such as Lost and Found Weapon Quest.

Are there guns in Dead Island 2?

Yes. While a majority of the weapons are melee, there are a handful of rifles, pistols and even a nail gun to wield.

Can you repair weapons in Dead Island 2?

Yes. Melee weapons will degrade over time, and go red in your inventory. You can’t use it until you fix it at a workbench, which costs money.
