What is a world boss in Diablo 4?

Similar to bosses in MMOs, World Bosses are colossal creatures that appear periodically in the Diablo 4 overworld, but they are only accessible after reaching certain story milestones. Defeating them allows players to obtain rare loot, and they provide an exciting new challenge for players of all skill levels.

Blizzard has confirmed that World Bosses are suitable for all players, regardless of their class, skill, or experience. Different tactics are necessary to defeat each one, and multiple parties are required to triumph over them.

Which world boss is in Diablo 4 beta?

During the open beta, players have the opportunity to face Ashava, the only World Boss available. Ashava will make four appearances during the beta, providing players with four opportunities to prove their worth.

However, defeating Ashava will not be easy, and players will need to adjust their schedules according to the adjusted times due to daylight savings time.

UPDATE: Due to an error where Blizzard forgot to take into account Daylight Savings time, Ashava was a full hour late for her first appearance – as a result the subsequent times were moved forward by one hour.

Player count and level to defeat Ashava world boss in Diablo 4 beta

In the Open Beta, Ashava will be level 25, so players will have to be close to or also level 25 to have a chance at defeating her. This is according to Joe Shely, the Game Director for Diablo 4.

As for the player count needed to defeat a world boss like Ashava, Shely gave insight in a recent developer livestream update: “You can just show up there. There will be other people for you to work together to defeat the boss. These are huge bosses. The camera actually pulls so you can get a better view of the battlefield and see other people fighting the boss. It has huge attacks that affect a very large area of the world, and it is all seamless, you just show up there. There will be other people, and you don’t have to have a group or organize anything in particular.

In short, up to 12 people can go against a world boss per server instance. The recommended level is 25 for the world boss in the Diablo 4 Open Beta.

Diablo 4 beta world boss Ashava loot drop – what is the Ashava loot?

If you manage to defeat Ashava, baring in mind he is tanky as hell, according to players already, you will be awarded heavily for you efforts.

As a few players on Reddit have been reporting, the loot drop for Ashava seems to vary, with some saying “10 total, 6 legendaries as drops, and 4 legendary rings from the (Ashava’s) Spoils (grand cache)”, whilst some also saying that they “didn’t get a cache” drop.

So it would seem that the loot that you can get from Ashava is highly random, however, most people within this thread seem to be getting multiple legendaries regardless.
