The only thing better than battling through hordes of demons in Diablo 4 is doing it with friends. The idea of being able to mow down hordes of demons locally with friends in June is just what Diablo fans are curious about right now. Let’s go over how to use Diablo 4’s couch co-op during the open beta and in the full release in June.

How To Enable Split-screen Co-op In Diablo 4

In order to play with couch co-op with friends, simply connect a second controller and open the menu to select the co-op option that has appeared. You will need to press a button on the second controller to confirm that it is being used by someone, but after that, you just need to pick a character to use for the other player. you will need Diablo 4 on one of the various consoles that the game will be releasing on.

Sadly, there is no local co-op available on PC.

You can do couch co-op on both the previous and current generation of consoles, so the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S will all be able to support couch co-op. While PC can’t allow two players on the same system, you can still party up with other players through online multiplayer in up to parties of four. Included players that are on console with couch co-op enabled.

The other person playing locally does not need to own Diablo 4, they will just make or select another character present on the console owner’s account. This technically makes Diablo 4 free-to-play in a sense.

How To Get Bonus XP While Playing Co-op

One of the nice parts about playing in parties in Diablo 4 is the addition of bonus XP from other players. Simply being near other players and partaking in the world events that Diablo 4 has to offer like the Ashava boss fight during the server slam, will give you a 5% XP bonus toward your character.

Being near a party member and earning XP will earn you 10% bonus XP on any XP you gain. Luckily this still applies when playing in local Co-op as both you and your friend are automatically put in a party together and will be getting the bonus XP.

This bonus XP will be a huge boost toward helping get your characters towards the end-game activities that Diablo 4 has to offer. As the normal XP grind can be a bit tedious at times. Simply playing together with friends will make sure that all of you reach the end game as fast as possible.
